My first prototype
I was planning on using Exo-terra Nano glass cages for my baby cages but the supply chain issues we are all too familiar with made me get creative. Forum member, MeruJack, who I all but stalked on here when I was getting started used Nanos for her baby jacks and she had a...
Intestinal Parasites are common in chameleons and other reptiles. Wild caught chameleons have a reputation of having intestinal parasites..although this is true , parasites can effect Captive bred as well as Wild caught Chameleon.
A chameleon may have parasites but not show any symptoms...
So here are some links and things to know about the Chameleon Forums. For newcomers as well as some seasoned members there could be some features that you don't know exist, or just cant seem to find them when you need them.
First off the resources page...
There are a number of ways to transport your chameleon to reduce stress. Whenever your chameleon needs to go in the car to the vet, or when you're moving, it can be nerve-wracking to make sure they are going to be okay during the stressful journey. Though chameleons have specific long term needs...
Of course, all animals require water to survive, and it isn't as simple as placing a bowl in the bottom and calling it a day. In fact, with most chameleons this will have little, if any benefit. Most chain pet stores display their chameleons with a water bowl, and this can be misleading to the...
It just sometimes seems like there are an enormous number of ignorant [insert rude word here] people in the world. And as much as I can appreciate, on the one hand, that not everyone is like me, that a variety of perspectives is a good thing ... on the other hand....
Im normally very much...
I usually dont like eating leftovers, hence my assumption that my chameleon definitely is bored of crickets, hornworms, and silkworms. I want to find some exotic insects to feed him. Beetles, Mantis', Stick Insects etc.
I fed him mantis' and he loved it.
Havent tried beetles, or stick...
It all depends on the Size of branches you want to add to your Habitat. I have 2 solid methods as to how to go about preparing them.
Method 1….
Method 1 involves an oven. It’s rather simple but the problem is how small an oven is. Not many of your branches are going to fit into the oven...
Welcome to the family, Prometheus the trickster!
Two vivs, so why not two criitters? Poppi is doing fantastic so far. I wasn't really ready for yet another but we got him anyway! He is a bit patchy from his last shed (at least I hope that is what it is and not some weird reaction to...
After many weekends of working on the out door cage and Jason's awesome building skills, it is finally finished.
it is 2.5 feet deep by 8 foot wide and 7.5 feet tall. It is built on the outside of one of the 3 sliding glass doors on the back of the house. So you can sit inside and watch...
Correct temps are important for thermoregulation, digestion, general metabolism and health/happiness.
One must monitor the temperature within the enclosure, both in the basking area and in the rest of the cage, both at night and during the day. There are inexpensive digital temp and humidity...
That is what my 3 year old grandson calls it when they shed: "sploded"! Well, she definitely sploded this morning.
I checked her at 7am and she was just waking up but still wearing her pajama colors. Turned her lights on, misted and fed her and she looked the same as she always does...
Today I got a full dose of this little girl's attitude since it was time to change out her flightless fruit-fly feeder! She is so funny.
Poppi definitely prefers the fff's over the tiny crickets or the mini-mealworms. She made it fairly obvious that I was starving her to death, because...

A good source of Protein, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Pantothenic Acid, Zinc and Copper, and a very good source of Fiber...
I think it is kind of cute that she thinks I would be intimidated by this funny little noise she makes.
She juts her chin down (not out to the front at all really) and then pops her jaws together with her mouth closed the whole time. At least that is how I think she is doing it.
She...
A good source Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus, Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Riboflavin, Calcium, Potassium, Manganese and plant protein. Combine with citrus (orange, lemon) or sweet red bell pepper to help make plant-based iron more absorbable. So good for...
Woo Hoo!! So far, so good: Poppi has survived being in my care for a week now. I decided to start a blog to keep track of her upbringing and for help and suggestions with what I hope to be the raising of a healthy, normal veiled chameleon.
She is still fairly shy and won't eat or drink...
first how to build cage
you need plastic tub, mesh, lid, cutting tool, and glue
you have the plastic tub cut squares out where ever needed probably on sides and lid. cut out mesh a little bigger then square holes and glue it on with silicone glue.
next buy crickets 1000 for small chams not...
We all know humidity is hey on keeping chameleons. But many of us have the problem that if we mist for too long, water drain becomes an issue. Often enough, people just mists more frequently. But how about when you have a large collection?
I like to keep my chams well hydrated and to achieve...
Celery is actually not a bad choice for occassional gutloading, especially in terms of providing a water/hydration source for the feeders. in addition to water, celery also provides some Riboflavin, B6, Magnesium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Folate, Potassium, salt, a little iron, and it...

After looking for some time, we finally found our Memphis at one of our local reptile shows on April 7th. He is a blue bar Ambilobe, hatched December 17 2011. We were able to get the size and coloring that we were looking for.
The plan from the start was to be DIY as much as possible. Not so...
