Do wooden sides make the chameleons feel safer?

they work great but they will block out a pretty large section of the top where the lights go... the mister goes off like 5 times a day for a couple minutes each time (between 2-5) i forgot exactly. it has two nozzles. im going to look into the halogens for sure, if i do go crazy and...

Do wooden sides make the chameleons feel safer?

i wish i had a better picture, but everyone's sleeping right now... the top is plastic mesh. so he cant touch the lights, but he hangs right underneath them, and he gets pretty warm but, no burns (keep in mind he hangs under them for at least an hour a day usually in the morning when he goes all...

Do wooden sides make the chameleons feel safer?

thanks for the tip, clyde has a habit (since i bought him like 2 years ago) of hanging upside down in his cage under the lights. he does this if its cold, warm, morning, evening, summer, winter. inside or outside in the sun. so i do have to be careful because he gets really close to the heat.

Do wooden sides make the chameleons feel safer?

thanks for the compliment. i live by the beach so it gets kinda cold and since switching to this cage i thought i would have better humidity and i dont... i think i have a 60watt, 75 watt and a 81watt (one of the new weird sizes) and two 18" reptisun 5.0's. which are due to be changed soon...

Do wooden sides make the chameleons feel safer?

lol, i wouldnt. he's living in that cage till the day he dies, i just built it 3 months ago. but i was wondering if you guys considered 2,3,4 to be a larger than normal cage? i cant imagine keeping him in anything smaller. since there are so many people awake right now... lol. How would you...

Do wooden sides make the chameleons feel safer?

is my cage too big? 2x3x4 for a 160g panther? he uses every inch of it for his morning to mid day exercise then settles down in one of three places to sleep.

Do wooden sides make the chameleons feel safer?

i keep my male panther in a 2x3x4 cage with all sides covered except the front. although he can climb all 5 sides. he seems to like it just fine. i just wish i could change my heating method (regular house bulbs) to something that doesnt burn up my humidity. like a radiant heat panel for...

Are these the BIGGEST locusts? ever!

years ago i caught one in the backyard and tried to feed it to my big male panther, but he didnt want it so i tried feeding to my smaller female, and she went for it. problem was the locust was on the top of the cage and when she hit it it didnt let go, then she fell off her perch and started...

    Provoking a colour response.

ohh ya, i had to wake Clyde up from a nap one time (we were moving and i figured it best to transport him in the middle of the night) he went all crazy on me which is unusual cause he usually is about as tame and mellow as they come.

How much are you feeding your chameleons?

Clyde only seems to want 1 or 2 superworms a day, maybe 3 if i skip feeding for a day or two. When he was a baby he would eat 10-15 crickets a day and when he hit his "adult" size he slowed way down. And he is by no means skinny, just about perfect cham weight, maybe a little fat when compared...

    Panther claws

i think it just varies by the cham, while your little buddy is defiantly on the short side, i have seen some panthers with really really long nails, and some with really stubby ones, and then again my ambanja has some that seem to be right about in the middle, but dont let your guard down, that...
