Ahh, Kinyonga, I'm soooo glad you just posted that, saves me starting a new thread and stops me worrying again. My female veiled is eating the sand from her laying box and keeps doing big sandy poo bombs. Doesn't seem to bother her or her appetite but I was wondering whether it was normal or...
Yes, but you're fortunate enough to live in the US of A!!! Her in UK the options are reptibreeze, net "flexarium", glass terrarium or DIY. Out of those options, The Reptibreeze comes out well. :p
Hi,
I live in devon, UK and I have a reptibreeze large for my veiled cham. I have a shower curtain around the back coming forward around both sides towards the front, mist twice daily, have a little dripper and keep humidity above 50% AT ALL TIMES with this. I love the reptibreeze and it...
Hello,
I have a female veiled Cham who is fully grown (age guestimate between what shop said and what she looks like compared to tonnes of photos would be around 10-11 months old)
She's kept in a large reptibreeze (in the UK) with some shower curtain to keep humidity up. Lots of live...
I do what Clark does, everything drains into a large square plastic container that the reptibreeze cage stands in. There is a slight tilt under the container that "encourages" the water towards a certain corner where I have drilled a small hole. I have a bucket under the hole at all times...
Yup, I tried several different methods but me and my cham have settled on a great compromise.
I've got a piece of kit called a "big dripper" (I'm one of the rarer UK members) which I fill with warm water and a water treatment product to combat the chlorine.
This drips through the top mesh...
I've had this powder called Pro reptile gutload stuff that i've just been shaking into feed pots in with the worms, the roaches and the locusts, along with gel water crystals and some fresh fruit and veg. I wondered why none of the critters had been touching the powder until my son took a look...
I do a bit of both.
Budgie gets the locusts free range in her cage at all times, and I enjoy watching her whizz around hunting them but with all the misting I do, I can't guarantee that the locusts will retain their vitamin coating so in the morning, after her shower she gets a small cup of...
I put a few silkworms in a clear plastic shallow tupperware and wedge it into some vines/branches. The worms can't crawl out and Budgie's interest always gets the better of her. Once she sees the wriggling and I'm nowhere in sight (hiding round the corner) she gobbles them up :D
I have no lights on in my lounge anyway, just the TV. Budgie has decided her bedtime is about 7pm (she does have an early rise as lights go on at 6am in my house :)) So once she's settled, I switch off her lights but I don't cover the cage or anything, wasn't aware I had to! Tv goes off at 9pm...
The locusts I get here in the UK are a really pretty yellow/green stripe colour, maybe investigate locust varieties before you start messing around with chemicals - imagine the colour of the poo for a start
Oh god I've refused to have any more crickets in my house now I find them so repulsive. We've switched to locusts which not only are actually CUTE (my daughter happily picks them up and plays with them ) but the beardie and the Cham go mental for them. They do seem skinnier than the...
