Moss

Howdy,

Pros:
Can look nice
Adds source for humidity

Cons:
More places for feeder insects to hide (under)
Another item for keeper to deal with when cleaning the enclosure
Possible location for parasites to be re-transmitted from when treating a chameleon with parasites.
May inhibit proper excess water drainage plans

I'm a fan of a clean PVC bottom drilled for drainage. It allows me to sanitize this area that can otherwise harbor bacteria, fungi, parasites etc. Keeping poop cleaned-up with the least residue is part of my daily husbandry tasks. A weekly saturation of the PVC bottom with properly diluted Nolvasan also gives me the illusion that I'm keeping things under control .

I agree with everything Dave said. Less is more when it comes to the bottom of the cage where poop tends to land. Good place for crickets to live. And they will live and feed on the moss. I'd rather have my chams eating crickets gutloaded with my gutload and not moss.
