Still Sexually Confused!

A while ago I posted about Amy possibly being a male. Hears a link to that thread: https://www.chameleonforums.com/spurs-help-please-26130/ Well, it went back and forth from she to he and back again a few times, lol! I am still confused as the spur things are still there, but she has no obvious banding or colours showing. She is around 5 months old now, so I would have thought that a male would start to show some colouring other than green by now!

Here's a couple more pics showing the back of her foot. What do you think now? I am still as confused as ever! I am now thinking male, but where are the yellows and browns and the classic barring? The last pic is to show general colouring - I caught her vandalising her Hibiscus!

This is definately a female... It is safe to say now. But she is a perfect example of how confusing they can be, and how females can have a "spur like" heel.

I know a couple of Humans like that...females with man feet or man hands:D:D
(didn't Seinfeld make an episode about this?)

Nope... No hermaphordite either here. You will notice as she gets older and puts some weight on that the little protrusion will become barely visible. That is a 100% girly girl right there.:)

Thanks Joe! I emailed the same photos to the breeder and he said that he has never mis-sexed a cham before but he can also see why I would be thinking male rather than female. Amy has got a more female shaped body though - maybe I should be feeding her more as she's got skinny, bony ankles, lol! Watch this space - I suppose time will tell!:D

ok it is defientely a female ORRRR. you might just have the first hermaprhodite chameleon to exist. :)

Actually I think I remember somebody here saying they have had such a chameleon before. Must be quite rare, but given veileds are so commonly bred, its quite possible. No idea what the odds would be though.

Lil, as Steve Irwin once said..

"You put your finger in the hole, it if bites its a boy, if it smiles, its a girl!"
:D

Hey guys! Me again! :eek::confused:

Well, I had Amy on my hand earlier - took her into the conservatory for some heat from the sun. Whilst she was out I had chance to feel those blasted heels of hers, lol! The heels feel knobbly and hard - spikey almost. What do baby/juvie's spurs feel like?

LOL TIFF!!! :D:D:D You are too funny!:) It is time to stop letting your mind play tricks on you... Amy is a girl... I promise.;)

Hey Joe! No need to shout, lol! :D:eek: Do you remember posting this in my original spurs help thread? Tee hee! What monkey are you related to then? ROFL!!:D:D

QUOTE: Just saw this now... I would vote 100% that is an Amos! The spurs are very obvious in the pics as well as his developing barring. Don't let your mind play tricks on you... Sometimes when you had your mind set on one sex... it can be easy to trick yourself into leaning towards the sex you want, or remaining undecided, I have been through this before.

I would be a monkeys uncle if that turned out to be a female.

~Joe

I'm still laughing!!:D Hmm, in my other thread you promised he was a boy, lol!

HAHA... I know I know... But that was back when it really could have gone either way, I should learn to leave out the "100%"... I do make mistakes. I also posted later in that same thread that I would most like eat what I had said earlier. Now that she has matured a bit... It is a lot easier to tell. She is a great example of why I never liked the absolute rule "If there is a spur... It is a male." There are some girls out there that will trick you with a boney heel.

Are you gonna keep this thread going until she lays her first clutch?:D;)

Just poking fun...;) But Amy is an Amy.

Maybe this will help... This is Lombardi at 5 months... See the difference in the Pattern and the Casque from your girl. And also notice how even from a distant shot his spur is apparent. He was a big boy for his age... But these are the traits that distinguish male and female ... that by 5 months should be more than apparent.

OK, I get it now! :D Just one more thing .... JannB's Luie didn't have his stripes when she got him at 7 months of age. Amy still seems small to me. Lily was at least twice her size at 6 months when I got her and she had subtle female stripes and more colour at a month older than Amy is now. Thanks for posting that pic - he's a beauty!

I just want to help get your mind at ease. :) All thiswondering has to be killing you. Maybe some others could post pics of their males around 5 months. Putting all patterns, size, and casque stuff aside... she does not have the spur a male should have... That is the main indicator... SHe does have a boney heel... but it is definately not a spur.
