Your Chameleon - male vieled 3 yr old got as baby
Handling - less handling over the years hes kinda mean
Feeding - eats crickets and wax worms dusted with calcium supps, probably 4 twice a day, crickets are 5 week and up.no real feeding sched he can help himself at the...
I think he has been overeating(little pig) he can pretty much help himself whenever he wants, he gets the calcium supps and is misted and drinks regularly, hardly ever gets handled any more because he's a jerk. three year old, with me since day 1. huge refrigerator sized cage. pretty active, he...
for a bout five days Ol Chesters crest puffed up or should I say looked swollen. he was still active and all the regular jazz, anything I tried to look up suggested he was overeating or getting to close to his heat lamp. he was hangin round at the top of his cage a while, it is getting warmer...
mine will eat trips of carrot peel, bits of cucumber and other assorted fruits and veg, but he always tries to zap them with his tongue, and wet veggies dont zap easily. I put the fruit or veggies into his mouth while hes trying to zap it and then he just bites down and enjoys.
soil
look out for soil with anything in it like vermiculite (used to retain moisture in soil)
chams will eat the vermiculite and then it swells inside of them and then they cant pass it. that would be very not good.
I've wanted a Jacksons pretty bad for a long time but have never seen one in a shop. getting shop owners to hunt one down is a waste of time.
I have thought about ordering on line, any peeps I should be talking to about that? Oh yeah I live in Canada is it gonna be difficult to get one into the...
anyone ever been bitten? in 10 yrs of chameleon geekery I have never been bitt, but there are times when Hector acts like he wants to give me more than a love nibble. If you've been bitten, does it hurt? Can they draw blood, will the bite get infected and the chameleon just waits till you...
add a real plant at the bottom for the water to drip into, a hibiscus is a good bet. plant gets watered and buddy has something live to climb on and occasionally chomp on.
what happens to the male you returned? do you think he'll get the proper care in thier hands. you should ask for some store credit and offer to take the injured male as well, some animals stand a better chance in the hands of a caring individual, rather than in a tiny little cage in the back...
he has not shed in 4 months so mabe its time, he is fine with the bitch cat and the 95 lb dog, but I can see him being annoyed with the kitten, its pissing me off right now, no kitty! down kitty!
ya my first thought was hes backed up, ive had that with past chams. Im not a big fan of supers because of their armor. since firt posting the missus has hand fed him a wax worm and i'll get him some crickets tomorry.
hector has not eaten in three days now.
he is still going about his normal routine(cruising around his enclosure), normal colors, good grip.
three days ago the weather changed dramatically from spring to summer and I added butterworms to his diet, chowed three or four right away but that is...
I'm told these are good cham feeders, is this correct and how the hell are they sposed to be fed? Do I cut them up or just let hector chow down? I am interested because they are easy for me to get and pretty inexpensive. Or should I just save them for fishing?
