crossbreeding

so lets hear your opinions on this...here mine

for a home pet its okay, as in they wouldnt breed or be sold, just kept as a pet like mine.

but for businesses like screamelons and other big dealers it isnt. Unless they have it specificly marked out in the open for the buyer...thats were my hybrid came from. Pure bloodlines will be withering awy in the soon future, although now a male ambilobe is hard to miss, in 20 years they may be like finding a femal tamatava.

so if your dealing the animals then the people should get what they want, no crossbreeding unless its requested by the buyer. And as a house hold pet its okay imo.

so lets hear your 2 cents.

i totally agree with you, infact i 100% agree with you, but you should dig through old threads and not bring up another one, this will have 100's of pages by the end of the day, youll see

I'll add to this page.

I agree with maintaining bloodlines, but I do not think that occasional crossbreeding is such a bad thing. As long as the breeds crossed are labeled, and the buyer knows that, I dont see this trend as taking over the purebreed chameleons. I think that most people want their chams to be a true nosy be, or whatever. But there are a few people who want really odd chams. I for one, am one of them. (though all I have are pure breeds). Minorities need not overtake the majority, but the majority must at least accept that there are minorities. This is my take on it, I hope I wont have to ask anyone to refrain from online bullying, harrassing, or making comments that can be percieved as such. (you know, like: this is so dumb, you are stupid, etc...) That happens to much on threads like these.

The problem with cross breeding is that you end up with a some less valuable, but possibly interesting males... and a whole bunch of essentially worthless females that are very easy to turn into valuable females with a little white lie.

People do it because I think deep down they are hoping to latch onto some freak mutation cornsnake or ball python style and cash in big
