Calling all T. quadricornis keepers!

I'm not only starting this thread to bring together people who are currently working with this species, but also to bring awareness that some of the four-horned chameleons sold from the last import may actually be a subspecies known as T. q. gracilior unbeknownst to their keepers. I know this is a long shot, but there are a few of us keepers smitten with this subspecies to the point that we would love to hear they are better represented in the states than it seems. They came in, where are they now? So please, join in to celebrate these beautiful chameleons by sharing your stories and pictures.

Here's one of my gracilior males I got from Chuck G of Heroic Chameleons not too long ago. Thanks Chuck. He's amazing!

My WC male is doing well from the December import.

Here he is trying to get to a female the other day. Still has scars on his back from the importation process.

Looking good Tylene. Of course, possibly being one of the de facto godmothers of quads, it's not surprising. Thanks for your part in keeping the flame burning in their imported absence and supplying us with exceptional babies. I know you've seen this pic, but for everyone else, here's my quad quad I got from Tylene almost a year and a half ago. Thanks again.

This is the first time I have seen one, it looks like an awesome veiled, jackson sailfin mix with more colors. How much do these cost and what cage size do they need?

$250-$300 range for captive bred and 2x2x4 or 18x18x36 size cage would work

Here's a pic of Nubby J.. He's another import from last Dec. The name is because he lost his front 2 horns during import and was sold to me as a female. He came in @ 17 g. He's doing well now, I bred him to a captive bred female I got from Tylene. I'm still waiting for the 2 females I got in the import to mature, they're taking their sweet time and growing a bit slower. I don't have recent pics of them but this may be the incentive I need to take some.

No. Those are T. montium. I'll have a few unrelated pairs of those available around the first of next month.

Very nice blues and blush. Definately quad quad as well as Tylene's. Thanks for contributing. I'm hoping for a good cross-section of both subspecies so we can compare the differences and variations to see what's out there. Here's my other gracilior male that came in on the Dec. import.

No spotlight to steal, Gene. We're all in this for the preservation of the species, and in my case, the gracilior sub species. Wished I had realized I LOVE the gracilior when I bought my group of 3.3 quad quads and 1.1 graciliors.

As if I need to remind anyone I have a clutch of 12 gracilior eggs from retained sperm due to hatch any day and 12 quad quad eggs due in a couple of months or so. I bred my graciliors recently and the quad quad pair that produced the eggs have bred again.

I am looking to find new gracilior bloodlines.

Ok, I will jump in! I know some of you will be shocked, but I keep quads. I currently own quads in 4 states, only one of those being Montana, where I live. I really am working the breeding thing.

I have only quad, quads, but do have a friend, with a female quad, Gracilior. Between my partners and I we have at least 15 + quads. A couple of clutches of eggs cooking, with some babies already hatched. We also have extra adult males, if anyone has an interest.

As always, if I can offer any help, or answer questions, I am all about getting a strong population of quads, able to decrease the need for so many wc to be brought to the U.S.

Laurie, we need pics from the collective. I'm especially interested in the gracilior female you speak of. If anyone can pull those strings, it's you.

This is Tank. He's my WC quad quad male from the Dec. import. He's a big ol' boy that got his name from being so big and strong right out of the shipping bag that his grip on bare skin drew blood and continues to this day.

You send Tank out here, he and I will be friends. I am sure he would get along with some of my ladies.

Gracilior Male

This is YingLong, my gracilior male. He really is as blue as the first two pictures, taken today. He came in the February import. He's been bred to my gracilior female. His red nails come and go. At best, they are a pale red or just a splash of red, nothing like the dark red in some of the pictures I've seen. The last two pictures are when he was displaying around the time I was breeding him. He has the most beautiful buttery yellows on the side of his head when he is excited.

Female Gracilior

This is Giselle. She came in with the early February shipment and laid a clutch with retained sperm. She laid a second clutch but none were fertile. She's been bred to the male above. I don't know if the picture shows it, but she has very blue scales on the stripes on the side of her head. She's a much more lime color than any of my quad quad females whose whose greens are more blue. Her nails are more red than the male's (pictured above) but they still aren't as red even on their reddest days as pictures I've seen. Sometimes they are quite pale. I wonder if there might be anemia going on from her parasite load. The second picture shows her red head (and the blue scales). Most of my quads have a bit of an edema from (I believe) the most recent order of crickets. She sometimes has a red blush on her sides--I think the first picture might show it. Yes, as her open mouth suggests, she is quick to use her teeth and I was bitten numerous times getting the outside picture.
