Swyft's colors are so beautiful! I think he is enjoying his new setup. Last night he slept on the curtain rod that I had relocated above the window. Today he's actively drinking, did not eat today, but his colors and activity level are really impressing me. I brought in his Hibiscus to...

I free range my chameleons so I really have to pay close attention to when it’s time to lay eggs. I think one of the most important things is to have a gram scale and weigh her once a week. If she's gaining and you are still feeding the same amount of food then I figure she must have eggs. You...
Threads pop up from time to time about providing lights that help with maitaining healthy growing plants in chameleon enclosures. These are my thoughts on the subject. Sunlight is the least expensive way to illuminate plants, so some people double-up on plants and rotate their plants between...
I finally made a decision on Swyft's setup. I really love the distance he can go with his free-range but he simply is not returning to the tree for his humidity, uvb light, and basking area. I have "grounded him" for now. I rearranged his large wide curtain rod with biovine and fake leaves to...
A simple log of what prey was given to the NosyBe Ambilobe cross hatchlings during the month of August, 2010 (their second month of life). Babies are fed multiple times a day(breakfast, maybe second breakfast, lunch, second lunch, and maybe super). Listing it all out makes for quite a big...
A log of what was eaten by the adult males this month. Supplements, if used, are indicated by: C=calcium (RepCal or sticky tongues mineral O brand); CD3=calcium with D3 (RepCal); V=Vitamins (RepCal Herptivite). wc = wild caught August 1: 2 butterworms (1 with V) August 2: 4 crickets (C)...
Swyft was excited and well-aimed with his tongue on a dubia tonight. I offered a second one but he turned his head away. He was doing the pacing thing again on the curtain rod so I relocated him to his tree again and misted it heavily, he drank readily. I think pacing means thirsty? Why...
August is almost over so I thought I'd go ahead and post the August growth record. As expected, Leo's growth is started to slow down a bit, but he still has some growing to do. Of course I believe chameleons have indeterminate growth, although someone can correct me on that if I'm wrong. He...
Swyft was pacing yesterday on the curtain rod. He knows how to get back to the tree, I've seen him do it, I don't know what his deal was. Finally, frustrated and concerned about the pacing, I grabbed my step-ladder and relocated him for the last few hours of the evening to his tree which has...
I'm very excited to begin construction on a new modern styled enclosure for my future panther cham. I found plexiglass at lowes that will work wonderfully for a very affordable rate. I am excited to begin work. I have also started breeding crickets again tonight.:)
Swyft is starting to concern me. He's alert, active, and eating superworms but still wont eat a dubia. He turns his head and looks away. But if I bring out a superworm he will turn and grab it. He's still free-ranging and I'm still misting him and the plants and the fake plants, he doesn't...
I watched someone "dusting" their cricket with Calcium + D3. I say dusting in quotes because it was actually more like painting or heavily coating the crickets. I dont dust my home much, but even at my house the dust layer has never been that opaque and thick. Well, almost never. That top...
Mr. Swyft is going to exercise all his weight off if he doesn't slow down and eat more. He has been shunning the dubias lately, I don't know what his deal is but he's assertively eating the superworms. The last few days we've had a storm roll in so I've been able to keep the temp down...

This is a log of what prey was given to the NosyBe hatchlings (Babies are fed multiple times a day) during the month of August, 2010 (their third month of life). Prey is gutloaded. First half of the month, they got two types of fruit flies, but later in the month was only using the large fruit...
It's good to read the visitor messages on your public profile every once in a while. It reminds you of the nice things people have to say.
Had an excellent chat today, thanks guys. It helped me to understand some things I have been going back and forth about. I made a reference that I wanted to record so I could remember the importance of the topic and possibly help out other new keepers residing in AZ. All of these...
man it is getten hard to control the heat with heat wave comen through. i am being forced to shut off the heat lamps beacuse it is so hot that ambient temps are rising to high 70 and sometimes low 80's!!!!!! idk what to do but just keep a lot of water dripping and mist.
I just wanted to officially say thanks to all those that have been helping me to understand chameleon care in the past two weeks. You know who you are. To the rest of the forums. Please remain true to the animals. This is one of the better pet forums i have had the privilege of being a member...
Just some links I have collected. This has been done a million times I am sure. But the best way to learn is to think about what you need to do. Read about the things necessary to do them. Then actually go do them. Then practice, practice, practice…. and practice some more. Before you post...
