Back to the tree with you.

Swyft was pacing yesterday on the curtain rod. He knows how to get back to the tree, I've seen him do it, I don't know what his deal was. Finally, frustrated and concerned about the pacing, I grabbed my step-ladder and relocated him for the last few hours of the evening to his tree which has the uvb light and misted him, the tree, his plants, the moss in the turtle house.

Now today he has not left the tree and that's fine by me because he's getting a good dose of his uvb light this way. He refused dubias, ate one large (really large) superworm, but shunned another one. He is really confusing me. Maybe I'm offering too often, too much food, but he used to go crazy for those dubias.

The turtle is helping me with the dubia supply, it turns out she can run REALLY fast when she's after one! I didn't know turtles were that fast, too cute! But its not the extra dubias that concern me as they are hardy and staying alive, its Swyft eating habits.

Oh and I have tried to offer the dubias dusted and undusted just to see if the dusting was bugging him. (the color change of the insect). Nope, he just turns his ahead away. I have also dropped a dubia into the tree tray (large tote tray under the tree that catches the misting water and any dropped leaves) He has captured bugs from there before but that didn't work today.

I think I'll stop offering so often, maybe drop down to every other day or every 2 days to see if that changes his interest level. Right now I've been offering at least twice a day because he isn't eating like I think he should. He had such a good appetite for awhile there and got a nice filled-out look to him, now he's back to skinny. Not bones, but not that healthy plump look he had before he was free-range. Maybe I just need to learn more about what he should look like as my vet had ordered me to make my dogs lose weight (which they have now) so maybe I just overfeed animals in general.
