he used to be all over crickets when i'd put them in his cup or offer them from my hand...

i've been giving him an occasional silkie or hornworm and now he's not interested in criskets or dubia..... he'll skip a meal of crickets and hold out for a juicy worm or two...

what do i do now that he appears to be on a cricket strike??
give in and give him worms or quit offering worms and give him crickets until he caves???

p.s. -- he knows i'm a reall softy and i hate to see him pout!! ;)

this guy above his head would of never had a chance, prior to worms... now their acting like roomies...

I did the same with Mia, only i spoilt her with locusts, i couldn't get her to eat her crickets so just fed her locusts as her staple. Every so often she will eat crickets, at the min she has a thing for super worms and will hardly eat her locusts. Spoilt brats aint they? lol Some people say if the chameleon is really hungry they will eat what they refused a couple of days ago. Maybe thats true, but i've never had the heart to do that with Mia so wouldn't know. She has me well and truly wrapped around her little green hand :D lol

switch feeding times

Yoda is a pig, usually immediately eating whatever I put in. When he decides to strike, I just don't feed him in the mornings (my usual) and feed him in the afternoon when I get home. This is usually enough time for him to get over whatever finicky nature he had and take what is in the cup.

i got real short on crickets for a bit so i was throwing in some silkies and hornworms until i could get the crickets in... well he's decided that he'd rather have worms than crickets.... and it's sooo hard not to give into them... :)

guess i'm wrapped also!!!!;)

i may have to give him the "tuff love" treatment... skip morning meals and see if he's happy to see a cricket coming his way in the afternoon.. :)

he's my first, maybe i won't be so lenient(wimpy) with the second, third and forth!!! ;)

surrrrreeeee lisa! i just shake my head when i see how much my girlfriend pampers all 4 of her chameleons! lol. its cute sometimes i guess! HEY! i just noticed you're from tennessee! what part? i was in pigeon forge a couple weeks ago and stayed in a cabin in the beautiful smokey mountians. love going down there! and i tried to find some pet shops and things like that but nothing in the area. i did see a cute little fence lizard basking on a tree when i woke up one morning though! ahh i love tennessee!

I couldn't get Hyperion to eat anything but superworms until he had absolutely no choice but to eat or start starving. Took him almost a month. I would only offer other feeders, and if he still hadn't eaten at the end of the week I gave him one or two supers and I would start over. He gladly accepts any bug offered now.

Thats what mums do :D haha, all my pets are spoilt. Like my dog, she doesn't like dog food so i feed her on chicken pork liver and so on. Not cheap! I think i spend more money on my pets a week then i do on my self. :)

lol roomies hehehe. I have a couple of male veileds that can be like this with their crickets. Just hold out on him.... he'll eat the crickets after a day to two. Remember they can go a couple of days... even a week or two without food. If you have a couple of free roaming crickets in the cage, they'll get picked off as snacks in the next day or two if hes hungry. Don't give into the cham... he'll realize he needs to eat on his own and go after whatever is still moving in his cage, crickets. lol

Your chams are picky!!! :) My male Darwin.. he loved crickets! :) he will only eat them freeranging and not out of a cup :D but he doesn't care for the dubias yet. and my female she'll take whats given to her :) meh little chams :) well not so little female but Darwins meh budd XD

Is Stanley not one of jannb's babies? How old is he aren't they about 3 or 4 months old? I would not let him go for days without food must less a week or two.
