ok, i think i've successfully spoiled Stanley...

Is Stanley not one of jannb's babies? How old is he aren't they about 3 or 4 months old? I would not let him go for days without food must less a week or two.

no worries beeze!!!! i wouldn't/could't let him go for a day without whatever food source he wants....

yes, Stanley is one of Jann's kids, and i held out for exactly,,, 8 hours...

as stated,, he has me wrapped, and he knows it!!!!! he got 2 silkies for dinner and i see his feeding cup is missing a cricket!!! :)

he knows what he's doing!!!!! :) lisa

Lisa..your not spoiling him. You just love them. Clea is like this but not with bugs. She used to LOVE Romanian Lettuce but now she wont eat it. She prefers her Hibiscus leaves:) Silly girl :D

I couldn't get Hyperion to eat anything but superworms until he had absolutely no choice but to eat or start starving. Took him almost a month. I would only offer other feeders, and if he still hadn't eaten at the end of the week I gave him one or two supers and I would start over. He gladly accepts any bug offered now.

best advice on here. youve got to starve him out for a bit. a well gutloaded stape feeder is a necessity. if hes drinking he will be fine without food for a week & hell eventually wanna eat. you could also try to change up the gutload or put him on a unfamilliar plant, you might find hes more agressive towards food. if hes turning into an absolute worm guy, gutload your supers the same way as your crix.

i know that you are right,,, back to the "tuff love" theory!!!! ;) thanks

i know variety is a good thing and i wouldn't mind just giving him worms while he's on strike... but how would you go about gutloading them???

I gut load my worms with the same things I use for the crickets. Silkworms are excellent feeders and I only use the Mulberry leaves for them.

what worms are you gutloading with the cricket gutload?? superworms and hornworms????

so you don't feed the silkies anything other than the mulberry leaves??? is that sufficient gutload????

thanks Jann....

try to make him forget about crix 4 long time , give him different types of worm but dont feed him too much just do that for a week or 2 than dont feed him for couple of days and after all that offer him crix . i did that with my veiled and it worked and he eats dubias too now :D always keep changing his food so he wont get spoiled

Superworms......as Jann wrote, just gutload the same as crickets. I dont use orange or other high water/sugar content fruit with superworms as it makes their bedding of oat bran too soggy and sticky but the rest is fine :)

i have been changing it up, he's been offered crickets, dubia, hornworms, silkworms, superworms and waxworms, oh yeah and phoenix worms also... for the most part crickets and when i ran low on them he got several meals of a mixture of the above worms... now that i have crickets he's trying to hold out for the juicy worms.. i have to admit that the crickets do seem to "disappear" from the cup after a day... i think that he may be eating them when i'm not looking.. :)
