New enclosure

Hello
I’m completely new to this forum and I’m desperate for your help!! My son has owned a beautiful panther chameleon for a couple of years called Buddy. Buddy’s enclose was built by what he thought to be a reputable company that had been recommended on another lizard website. A husband and wife team turned up and built what I can only describe as a joke. The sealant was uneven and stood out like a sore thumb. The clasps on the front of the enclosure didn’t line up and have subsequently broke. The water sprayers stopped working. When my son tried to contact them to resolve the issues they began by trying to fob him off and then when he didn’t back down they blocked him. The worse part and the reason I’m so desperate for help is that not long after the enclosure began to leak! We have considered patching it up as the poor lad paid over £1000 for this awful home for Buddy, but we’ve come to the realisation that it needs to be chucked out and we need to start again. I really hope that there’s someone out there with some compassion, he’s only a young lad and it would devastate me if he got in a situation like this again. His bedroom floor is drenched and he’s seeing insects making themselves at home outside of the the enclosure so this needs to be sorted ASAP. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can give me. If I can work out how to send pictures I’ll show you what an absolute mess it is!!

Hi there welcome to the forum. You can attach pics with the attach files button at the bottom of your reply.

Are yall looking for info to build your own?

Thanks so much. I can add pics if you want but in all honesty it’s too far gone to fix so it will need building from scratch again. I’m hoping there’s someone out there who could do that for him 🤞

I’ve added some pictures to show the sealant, the enclosure, the broken clasps and of course Buddy 😍

Where exactly do you live? I am not sure if we have members near you that would be willing to help. If he wants to build it out by himself we could guide him in what to use any how to do it.

I hope your son knows that he does not have a Panther chameleon. He has a Parsons. I am not really good with these but to me it looks to be a male orange eye parsons.
@Sonny13 @jamest0o0 have experience with Parsons.

Oh god, I just realised I had put panther! Totally my fault and you are absolutely right he is a Parsons! 🙈 that could be an option. Anything would be better than what he has now. If we all pull together I’m sure we could build it

And sorry, we’re in Swindon.
I believe that is in England. LOL I am in the States so all UK countries are a miss for me.

Ok so there are some great threads for builds. I recommend building a frame of wood. Then you seal it with something like flex seal to waterproof it. You can use thin plywood to build your base and up the sides then flex seal all of that a few times. You could also use PVC sheets for the back and two sides to make it more lightweight. Use aluminum screen for the other panels and the top. This is what I did for my outdoor enclosure. https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/my-outdoor-enclosure-build.175829/ I did it by myself and I have never built anything.
Really you just have to be creative.

I know there are companies that sell enclosure on your side as well but am not familiar with them.

Thanks so much for all that info. Yes we’re in the uk, my mistake I thought you were too!! 🙈 looks like we have some work to do. Thanks so much again for all your help.

Hi and welcome. That’s one beautiful male orange eye parsons. A big shame the enclosure has come to such state. Still I think this was a great enclosure and setup with everything needed for a chameleon. You’re also in though package, because your son has somewhat the biggest chameleon in the world, meaning it needs the most of space it can get and commercial enclosures can‘t provide you that. Therefore you end up in a situation where you need to build something on your own, or need a builder (got someone who could build you something, check mine https://www.chameleonforums.com/threads/just-one-more-time-going-for-the-ultimate-build.185998/) or if possible thinking about going free range. This is an example how I end up free ranging https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/free-range-inspiration.2464/
A custom solution will be the answer for your Cham and we’re always happy to participate in that process
