LLL Shipment Duration?

I just ordered Hughs 24x24x48 cage from LLL and was wondering how long the shipment usually takes to arrive? I read that it takes anywhere from 5 to 8 buisness days but since I live in SD only 40 minutes away, I thought maybe it would arrive sooner? Now, i'm kind of regreting ordering it when I could have picked it up myself BUT I wasn't sure if the sale was going on in the store and I would have paid a lot more, plus gas costs.

I guess i'm just really antsy about getting the cage and putting it together. :D

Was that sarcastic? How is anyone supposed to tell you when it will get there unless they are directly handling your package, have a tracking number, or it is guaranteed to be there by a specific date (which you probably would to have paid for.)

I was asking about personal experience with people recieving cages or supplies who live here in SD. If you don't live in SD obviousely you'd have no idea. If you think my question is stupid then don't waste your time by replying with some smart remark.

Wow. I didn't notice you act on the forum like this before, guess I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

Hey! it will probably take 5-8 business days..from personal experience. I ordered some cages and lights and the place was about the same distance (40m-1hr) normally they will hold it at the facility in your city( i guess they give you what you pay for even if you ARE close to them=\) and when you track it the message will be "not due for shipment" and they will hold it there until practically the last minute. Hope this helps!

everyone has been cranky lately. maybe its something in the turkey.

ive never ordered from lll but i know there warehouse is in oceanside so im sure your ship time will be allot shorter than the average.

Take the comment as you wish. It wasn't intended to be rude or mean. I didn't think your question was stupid. I was answering it. Not everyone is as bright as the next person, and I was taking that into account when answering. Obviously it's rather hard to tell tone from text, and you have assumed the worst regardless of you knowing how I intended it. I type the way I speak, and I hardly ever mean anything with the intent to be rude.

I placed an order with LLLreptile on Saturday 11-21-2010 and Fedex delivered the packages today. 11-27-2010. I am almost all the way across the country.

Keep in mind shipping takes time, and even if LLL did send it out on time, it is the holidays and a TON of packages go in and out this time of year, sometimes things can get lost or delayed. also they usually crack down on security and package scanning this time of year.

IMO call them, find out your tracking number to find out whats up.

i am in phoenix and i usually will order on a monday and have them by friday.

Pretty, in the future you might just call LLL and ask them if they are offering the "online special" in the store and, if not, can you order the item online and arrange to pick it up? I've called in orders, payed for them, and gone in to pick them up.

Your concern is legit because the online store and the retail store are not the same and the fact that something is available online does not mean it will be readily available at the store.

I'm in sort of the same boat as you, it's a long drive for me. But I've always found them open to phone calls and when items are in short supply in the store, they've held them for me.

They're customer service is generally very good. They have long time employees who work full time, so chances are the person you speak to on the phone will be working at the store when you get there. I'm sure you know why that's such a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand your reasoning. Things do get distorted with text, so you sometimes have to make exceptions and assume that smart remarks are backed by good intentions and a light-spirited sense of humor.

I also understand that for some people it can be rather difficult to achieve a 4,500+ post count by always remaining on topic and addressing the post in question. Sometimes you have to provide a thoughtful answer that includes some slight undertones of sarcasm. Other times you might even have to be totally unhelpful and completely sarcastic because like you said, "not everyone is as bright as the next person".

I won't be mad at you however, because assuming that only 10% of your posts are like this (unhelpful and sarcastic), that still leaves over 4,000 posts which serve some kind of purpose on this forum. That is quite impressive considering a Ph.D thesis on chameleon taxonomy can be only 100 pages double-spaced and size 14 font.

I'm sorry if I took your comment the wrong way but i'm sure if you read over it, it sounds pretty rude.

Thank you and I will be sure and call, maybe it'll bump it up a bit. lol!

Thank you everyone for the comments and advice.:) Again, I will be sure and give them a call to check the status on my shipment and hope I get it QUICK!:p

Depending on how they shipped it (which you should be able to determine from your receipt) they may or may not be able to provide tracking information. I'm sure that, just as a precaution, they include long shipping times in their estimates.

As noted, the holiday schedule messes everything up. We tried to go to the library today and it was closed...**sigh**

At this point, what you need to do is start with the day you ordered and go forward through the calendar marking off every "shipping day". Until you get to 7, you can't really expect LLL to look into it.

Knowing them, I do think they would be open to a call to check before day 7. That would at least give you a chance to make sure that all the shipping information is correct. A minor typo can be devastating to shipping. So, if you don't see your cage by Monday, give them a call and confirm that all is well.

This is really a nice company to deal with for the most part so I feel confident that you will find them very helpful.

Eman, I have to say I sort of hate the "post count" related comments. Not that I think your basic idea was off base, but to attribute it to some need to get a high post count is wrong, in my mind. Some of us come from online groups that actually encourage participation, even reward it. So, "post count" is not, to us, a bad thing. I have had my post count thrown in my face as though it was proof that I'm an idiot here...needless to say, I don't enjoy that.

pssh, you know I love you...but as Pretty says, if you go back now and read it, you'll see it does come off as a bit condescending. Also, just to be a MOM: most shipments aren't by mail carriers! Okay..maybe that's my long experience working with shipping.... anyway, it was sort of obvious that the shipping service knew when it would be delivered so providing that was unnecessary and, as we've seen, kind of a problem.

Of late, on this board, I tend to type out my replies then take a break. After the break I read it again. If it still seems good, I post it...otherwise, I don't. I find I have far fewer people posting negative feedback and comments like "please stop" in my profile. I offer that up as an idea, nothing more.

Hehe...trust me that is not what I was getting at! What I said should in no way apply to others just because they have been around the forum for a while and participated. If anybody tried to prove that you are an idiot based just on post count(as you said), that wouldn't be convincing to me...so I completely I agree with you.

What I was trying to point out was that somebody who tries to get away with an unhelpful and sarcastic comment in that fashion is not a responsible individual. By claiming that the question was answered in a dumbed-down fashion for the sake of 'not-everyone-is-as-bright-as-the-next-person' makes things even worse.

I mentioned post count to make a point. Somebody who has obviously participated enough in the forum should know that making unhelpful remarks like that is not in the spirit of participation or useful to anyone. To be safe, I am assuming this is just one incident out of 4000+ posts. For all I know, for every 99 thoughtful posts, 'pssh' likes to throw a cherry on top just for a change of pace and maybe that is OK. Why direct that attitude towards a new member in the forum though?? I would think that somebody who has participated here long enough is either contributing or learning, and using jokes WHEN appropriate. How many posts does it take to realize how a forum works and what its purpose is? Every forum has a "Lizard Lounge" for a good reason, but the question started in this thread was NOT off-topic. Anybody looking to have some fun should find a more suitable thread for that or mess with people that know for sure they are just kidding.

To each his own.
