Right now I have Americana and you’re right I have had a few die from moulting issues

I had 50 Americana adult breeders. 40 of them died the remaining 10 received the royal flush. It was devastating finding dead hoppers. I decided if one more died I would flush the whole crew. So I did. In November I started with 20 adult Lineata and 20 adult Nitens. 3 of the male Lineata have recently died. It looked like their rear ends were blown up. I think maybe too much mating. I had a pair to mate for over 48 hours.

I supplied @SauceGandhi and
@Camiezone with wild caught. I kept a few for myself but I got rid of them after they laid eggs. I kept the eggs for a few months then I decided I should start with non-diapause species.

Doesn’t one of the species of grasshopper you keep require a diapause?

Nope. I have Lineata and Nitens.

Yes, the high (35%-40%) humidity caused problems with molting and caused the Americana to die. I have Spotted Bird - Schistocerca Lineata and Gray Bird -Schistocerca Nitens adult grasshoppers and they are doing great. I've had them for over 3 months. The Lineata are mating and laying eggs like crazy. The Nitens are slow at mating. I don't have any eggs. However, one of the nitens laid eggs on top of the soil. @Camiezone is having success with Americana grasshoppers. They are mating and laying eggs like crazy. She keeps them in a 40 gallon aquarium and has had no issues with humidity.

During a podcast with Bill Strand, Dean said the Americana is the most prolific breeder. My male spotted birds are trying to mate but the females kick them off quickly

And my dehumidifier only goes down to 35% humidity. It’s running constantly to keep that %. I empty it daily

My humidity is at 35%. The Lineata and Nitens do fine. The Americana just couldn't survive with that humidity. My Nitens need some atmospheric adjustments. I'm getting very little mating. There was 1 incident of egg laying. Outside of the bin but my Lineata, are busy, busy.

I have a group of Americana. I’ve been through a couple groups of them but now I have the hang of it I think.

I think Americana are 3~4 weeks
