Branches

I'm about to redo Sheldon's cage, and I got some big and nice braches from a hedge I cut down yesterday. I have removed all the bark from the branches, cleaned them with soap and hot water, then I came to think of how will the branches do in the cage? Will they turn green and start to grow shrooms and stuff and how long will they last?

I've never used "live branches" before so I just wonder how will they do with the high humidity and all the water? Please share your experience!

I cut branches from a tree about a year ago come May and they are doing great in my cages. No mold, no lichen, no rotting, they are holding up really really well. I think live branches hold out better, since they haven't started decaying outside, where they fill up with little bug holes and tunnels and do worse under humidity and water.
