just curious if anyone has heard of these?
personally like stated i think they could be good for small bird cages hamsters and flowers & insects.
for some reptiles it could also be a good setup but personally i wouldnt use one for a chameleon.they are a nice little setup tho for certain things

IMHO it is just another variation on other incredibly cramped living spaces that seem convenient to clueless humans. Animals need to move through their habitats. Why do they have bodies with legs, wings, etc? They are not plants that are anchored to one spot all their lives. Even if everything they need comes to them (water, food, shelter, light) they still have a need to move for basic metabolic reasons, be stimulated by variations in the world around them, and be able to choose where they wish to spend time. I HATE these sorts of encapsulated "perfect" micro worlds and would never use one even for an insect. The only things I'd put in one are plastic creatures. They don't care if they can't move.

imo i feel it would be suitable to house some species but not all like there stating although measurements are not stated.

Those are tiny. I (do not) love how they have two Disney chameleons in one small tub... Shows their target market. Maybe for some species, but definitely not most chameleons. I absolutely would use them for plants though.

I agree that while the product does have potential for keeping some animals, it definitely should not be advertised as a "one size fits all" solution. It is completely inappropriate for some animals and has shortcomings that need to be worked out in order to be a useful product line.

I had some correspondence with this company because I was briefly considering their product for a small rodent home and had some questions. When I wrote them, I also mentioned my feelings about them advertising this for chameleons.

Me:
P.S. I do want to tell you that I don't approve of your advertising chameleons in these habitats. Unfortunately even your largest size is inappropriately small for medium to large chameleons. This would be a great habitat for pygmy chameleons, but only if there is a way to provide the UVB and basking lighting that these animals need. I do not see a way to currently do so. Please pass this on to your marketing team (and maybe your design team so they can work on something that would work for pygmies). I really do think you have a cool product that can work for a lot of animals, but I'm sure you don't want to advertise something that could adversely effect the health of some animals.

Their response:
We appreciate your feedback regarding the Chameleons. We will take it into consideration. Our habitats are customizable and expandable to create plenty of space for Chameleons. We do have a bioscreen, made of corrosion resistant high quality aluminum that fits any of your habitats, included which is specifically engineered to hold custom lighting such as UVB and basking lights. We also have exciting new products and habitat for Chameleons that are in the works so stay tuned to our website for more details. Feel free to contact me with any further questions regarding our products.

I looked into the bioscreen and it does indeed look like it would allow for one dome light, but I still do not see a way to fit both UV and basking light into one enclosure. Another issue with the product is that there is no door (I believe this is true of all cages and accessories except the bird cage riser)!!! There is no way to access the animal without taking the top off and reaching in from above. This also impedes daily feeding (of any animal), cleaning, etc. To me this is the biggest oversight. Otherwise I do feel the product has some potential for certain animals They just have some work to do to make it practical.

I don't like the fact that they show a veiled and some other chameleon in that small cage together. And on top of that it has very little to no ventilation. I hope no newcomers to the hobby end up getting one like that for their poor chameleon(s)

Thank you

Hi I just wanted to say that I appreciate all of your great opinions. I have recently been thinking about getting a chameleon, and have basically just started my reasearch. I came across the bio bubble and at first thought how neat, then became skeptical for a few reasons of it. But I haven't come across any real answers until now as far as what people really think in comparison to and more traditional habitat. So I just wanted to say thanks for putting it out there.

Glad you are doing your research and that you found this thread helpful! Best of luck to you and your future chameleon!

OMG
I had never seen those.

That gets the "Cruelest Pet Product Award" of the frikkin' century!

Those aquariums have no air surface - the saltwater set up the fish would all suffer and die in 24 - 48 hours.

WOW!!
How can they present that as a viable way to keep fish??

And that cham set up... WTF???

I saw enough.... I couldn't even look at the stuff for more than 3 min. or else my head would EXPLODE!!

The people who designed those cruel torture chambers ...

KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT KEEPING ANIMALS.

So sad.

The newbies need to be warned to stay away from getting sucked into their phony marketing glitz!

I am just telling it like it is. :)

Cheers!
Todd

Whenever I see these in catalogs I send very opinionated barely civil comments to the catalog or the manufacturer if I can figure out who it is. The best solution is to require the designers to spend a day in one themselves and see how they like it!
