I was seeing similar patterning on my female at around 4 months, but it was solid black banding on lime green, and that was her pissed off colours. I haven't seen it in a long time, she's been showing receptive for almost 2 months.
And we deal with loads of people who have had nothing but problems doing it.
Yemens do not like being housed together. They shouldn't even see each other until being bred, which at 8 months is too young for the female.
