New Baby Panther - Male or Female?

Thanks all!! I'm glad that it seems to be a unanimous decision!! The guy in the store was fairly certain when I bought him - I was just starting to doubt it slightly as he's just over 3 months now and hasn't started to show any real colours as yet. Guess I just need to be a bit more patient!

New Baby Panther - Male or Female?

Hi all, I've had my baby panther for about 4 weeks now. Brought him/her home when he/she was about 2 months. I've attached some pics. There's a couple of him/her with a straight tail - any opinions on sex? In terms of colour, he/she is always brown/beige but goes dark/dark bands every now and...

New Panther Arrival Iminent -Cage Pics

Thanks!! I hope he does!! I'm using a dripper system that I've made. It works great - just testing it out in the kitchen so it's not on the cage in those pics. I've also got two ExoTerra thermometers measuring the temps at the top and bottom of the cages. Also an ExoTerra Hygrometer for...

Should I repot a newly bought live plant?

I recently bought an Umbrella plant from Homebase in the UK. I have covered the soil with wire mesh and then put large rocks on top. This means the soil is completely unaccessible to the chameleon. Is it still necessary to repot with different soil???

Ok thanks again. I'll try a few combos and see what works best. So excited!! This will be my first cham. I've been waiting ages as the eggs took much longer to hatch than expected. Can't wait to bring him home!!!

Thanks for the reply. For gutloading Dubias, is it the standard fruit & veg cuts and then calcium dusted before feeding?

    Dubia Roaches for Baby Panther

Hi All, When my baby panther arrives in a few weeks, I will be feeding it primarily dubias (as opposed to crickets) as well as worms of various sorts. The cham will be about 3 months old when I receive it and I was wondering what size roaches to feed him and how many??? I've found a UK...

    Lighting Questions

Yea I know I'll have to get him a bigger cage when he grows. I just didn't want to put him in a massive cage as I'll be getting him when he's around 3 months old. What size/age do you think he will need to be moved into a larger cage at? Thanks again for all your help!

    Lighting Questions

Sorry - I've just checked and realised I got the dimensions of the cage wrong. The one I'm getting is 18x18x36 inches. So on your reccomendation, I can get the Arcadia T5 22" 12% Bulb with the appropriate reflector. This will have to go diagonally across the top of the cage for it to fit...

    Lighting Questions

Thanks for your reply. I'll be getting a 24x24x48 cage. UVB - Ok I was under the impression that the 5.0 was the most suitable but can certainly get a 10.0 if it's better for the cham. Not worried about spending a bit more on equipment/setup as long as the cham will be in an optimum...

    Lighting Questions

Hi again! Just continuing my research and preparation for the arrival of my new baby Panther and had some questions about lighting. I'm sure they've been asked a million times so apologies but couldn't find the answers when I searched through previous threads. 1. UVB - It seems like the...

Thanks for all the replies guys!! Sharlaxle - I've mentioned in my previous threads that the breeder will not sell them until they are 3/4 months old and of a certain size. Still getting very excited though!!! :)

    Egg Hatching Time

Hi All, You may have seen in some of my previous threads that I'm eagerly awaiting my first Chameleon (Panther). The guy in the shop who breeds them was expecting them to hatch 2 weeks ago but they still haven't. Does the extended time that they're taking to hatch indicate anything such as...

    Automatic Misters

I think I may see how I get on first by hand misting twice a day and using a dripper whilst I'm at work before getting an automatic system in place. You must be as excited as I am!! Can't wait for his arrival!!

    Automatic Misters

Aaaah ok thanks again! What's the reason behind needing the cage dry by lights off time? If it's still slightly damp, is that bad for the cham?
