    Cage Lesson!

I learned the importance of cage size as I have a 2 month old female Calyptratus. Only seen her eat once and noticed that the crickets were still up on the screen but it seemed to me that it would be difficult for her to reach some areas due to being a little big for her and where the...

    baby vieled questions, please help

Zilla Tropical Go ahead and use the Zilla and make sure you do calcium D3 twice a month, but keep in your mind that the coil IMO should be back up and start trying to save, it will get you by but I know exactly that is where I upgraded. Zilla Coil to ZooMed Reptisun 5.0 made my cage from a...

    New Baby Calyptratus - "Bindie"

Just received this girl Thursday and she is beautiful and healthy. Comes from turquoise genetics and is 1.5 to 2 months old. She ate the first day home and appears hydrated and moves around really good and fast. She is very hard to see my 3 1/2 month old is hard to see and he is at least 5...

    baby vieled questions, please help

I was wondering if that was a typo, I do not think I would want a two week old but I would accept a 6 wk old or 2 months. I have my basking light (60 watt) mounted 7 1/2 inches above the cage. I have it set on a dimmer switch and I do not even have it up 3/4 of the way more like in between 1/2...

    Crawling on the ground...

My Calyptratus is only on the ground when he is looking for an escape route. I take him outside and when done he walks around the bottom. Plus he got out once so I am sure he enjoyed the freedom. I forgot to zip up the bottom, good thing I was home. Has he ever successfully escaped his cage...

    baby vieled questions, please help

I would definitely bring down the basking. My 1+ year old does not even bask at that temp, more like 88-89 degrees. I have a 3 1/2 old and I keep his about 84-85 degrees and he does not get as close as he could when he basked. Good luck, two weeks is young, post a pic if you can. kire

How do you stand the wait?!

I do not know how to answer that. I was supposed to get my first girl Calyptratus last Friday, but due to uncertainty of arrival she was shipped on Monday and I get her tomorrow. I was so anxious to get her but when I found out it would be a few more days I said Oh Well and went to the local...

    Lighting and Fixture! Need Opinions

Not sure what you mean are you talking about the ExoTerra lights that dont have a housing, it just has end pieces and the wires run to the timer/dimmer. 30 minutes in the morning it wont be 100% bright and 30 minutes at the end of the day to. And can be set for 12 hrs. kire

    Guess What I got? A sound machine>>

Excellent point about the finger bone I know how bass feels all over the body, maybe animals with ears are more alert and comprehensive because we have an organ that is picking up vibrations so it is easier where as an animal or Chameleon, has more difficulty pickng up vibrations but still can...

    Lighting and Fixture! Need Opinions

Okay I have noticed that my one Reptisun 5.0 is much brighter than the other and I am sure I know why. The bright one plugs into the wall (110) and the other one has a cigarette lighter attachment which I bought a converter for 12 volt to 110. Now I have 1+year old and I have a 3 1/2 month old...

    My New Male Calyptratus

Thank you JannB I have read it three times and I appreciate every bit of it. My local rep store told me they are from Yemen where it is hot so the basking should be around 100 degrees, I told them that is crazy they live in forestry at the bottom of the mountain. It can reach that degree...

    newb. need tips

Grasping Limbs Like the post above says: Before buying the biggest coolest looking vines out there, remember that size does matter! and a mixture of different sized vines is good, preferably ones that the chameleon can get a full circled grasp on. This is very important, I started off to...

    Baby Calyptratus

I am getting a baby female calyptratus, and I am getting the crickets, but I was wondering if I could feed her some baby dubias, not a lot, too add a variety. I am concerned if the shell is a bad idea or if they would be harder to chew up and maybe they could swallow to soon. Basically. I...

    Vitamins and Usage

I use Rep-Cal Multivitamin w/ Beta Carotene, ZooMed repticalcium w/o d3, and Rep-Cal Phos free calcium with Vit D3. If I am to mix my Vitamins with my calcium 1:1 ration how does that work since I have two different brands. The Herptivite smells like turtle food and is tan, my Cal w/ D3 is...

    why so small????

The Cham I rehomed was getting D3 every other feeding. They did not even have regular calcium. His legs were big when I got him and swollen joints were easily noticable. Too much D3 can lead to metastic calcification which is "gout". They can also get hypervitaminosis or to much vitamins of...
