Wow she let you tape her?? I don't think I could ever own a female, they would just make me so nervous! Congrats on some eggs, even if they aren't fertile!

haha..ya i actually started with a female senegal as my first cham as a begginer (that sucked...but i learned alot)..her head was too far down in her hole to see me, but i wont look over the edge of the bucket till i see her shadow clawing the sides..i just kne she was digging since i didnt see the shadow pacing around..

I'll give myself a few years before I work with a female, maybe would consider starting out with a live bearing species and I'll still be stressed!! I just bought a Hoehnelii so I'll see how I like to work with these guys. I'd love to breed some Fischers at some point too...and win the jackpot :D

Congrats, having a successful laying is alway good. Stresses me every time. It doesn't matter fertile or not it is hard on my girls so it is stressful on me.

:D, the jackpot!lol yeah, after my bad experience with a wc female with a sunken in eye that would not open and the guy there saying this is a great begginer chameleon, and this female is healthy..i did about 4 months of research before i got a pair of jacksons (kept them sepaeratly for two years, then bred them..soo cool seeing a bunch of mini chams climbing all over..raised them to be 3 months and sold them at $40 bucks each..i had 34 of them!!

34 babies, that's A LOT of mouths to feed! I love Jacksons as well, haven't gotten one yet though. I really love montane species :)

yeah..im kinda sweating in my shorts thinking about how many panther babies i will have to feed....but i did start breeding crix, so having pinheads available at my disposal really helps out!! fruit flies are such a pain in the ***:D

ok she just got outtah the shower, got all cleaned off but still has a few eggs in there..she dropped one from the tree after she was done and climbed back up..she ate, and drank immediatly (suprize) but seems to be dooing good, im going to leave the laying bin next to her tree from now on (i want her to have access whenever she feels the need)..well since they are not fertilized, i can pretend right?? LOL

she needs a lil more calcium, i can tell by the color and look of the eggs(also got a few round ones..no good, and a few twins, also not a good sign)..going to increase the calcium intake, and just a pinch more on the multivites..

:D

Not too shabby for both of your first times with eggs!

sweet, thanks..yeah i have years and years with live bearers, but never tried the whole egg thing..but well see how it goes when they mate (i made sure my female would have at least one unfertie lay behind her belt and be at least 1 year old before mating..so kinda a long process but im in it for the long haul!

thanks for the support..much appreciated!:D

One day when I decide to breed then I'll be looking for your support! :D Oh hey now I know who to ask for about live bearing species. My only problem is breeding something like Fischers' and other not so "popular" montane species is I'll have MANY chameleons. Just need to buy a big house and work only to make money for my animals and their food!! Sounds about right :D

Good work, did you do anything in particular to get her laying eggs?

basically to get her to lay, i changed the laying medium like 4 times, untill she liked the consistancy..basically ended up with a muddy sandbox effect..only then did she start to become interested..

p.s. for me to check on her..its a lil trick i thought of..drill a micro hole at about an inch above the soil line, and you can peek at her un noticed because of such a small hole..(like a heated up safty pin size, really small, just enough to kinda see and check)

i hated the idea of not being able to check on her, and if i did to interupt her(like someone trying to open the bathroom door while you number 2..instant pinch..LMAO)..so i thought of that..i was able to peek at her unseen like a ninja..and only after i saw her pacing around the edges, i put back in her stick path back to the tree..she spent another hour patting down the soil then traveled back into the tree, where i instantly gave her spa treatment..

Thanks, good ideas - I already have muddy sand! My girl is a 7 month old Veiled, and has never looked receptive to me. I've let the male and female see each other a couple of times too, so I hope to get some unfertilised eggs to do a test run before I put them alone together........am nervous already :)

They don't just look around and "say"....oh, gee, I like this soil....maybe I'll start to dig now"...its hormones that make them ready to dig.

thats what i was also thinking..i was just doing everything i could because i had a female (while i was in oregon visiting family, my ex was watching for me) well somthing happened she got egg bound, quit eating drinking, started sleeping, took her to the vet, and they put her to sleep..(one reason i broke up with my ex..she was also cheating..probably why she spent no attention to lily)..so yeah i was just really worried and wanted to give her options..in the end you where totally right tho.."just be patient, maybe she isint ready yet"..LOL :D
