Veiled's coloring

My veiled's colors aren't very bright. He goes from the green color in the picture to very dark when he's in the sun. Is there anything I can do to help his coloring?

I'm not exactly sure, I've gotten mixed answers. He's 6 inches long from nose to vent. We've had him since March.

I also got my boy in March, he was about 2-3 months when I got him. Mine is showing some nice colours now.

How old would you guess mine is?

Hard to judge by the pic as there isn't much to reference its size. If I were to guess I would say about 6 months. But that would have made him super small when you got him.

Colours have alot to due with mood / health, not always about age.

If he is turning dark while in the sun then he is basking and absorbing the heat/sun. Perfectly normal!

I have found my guy is more colorful at night and I think they can have more distinct & colorful patterns as they get older but you should never expect him to be turning orange or blue or anything. (unless hes stressed he will turn dark but this is bad) I think he is a carbon copy of my guy when he was younger I think he will be good looking.

What a handsome boy! I have been wondering about colors too because my girl is an estimated 5 months, and hasn't shown much color yet other than the green and dark stripes or polka dots. He seems to be about the same size she is from what you say. What kind of lights do you have on his terrarium?
