Well, I already told you that both of my male veileds have been shy. Neither ever showed any hissing or aggression. I got bit once by Lucky when giving him an abt injection and it accidentally went right thru his poor little arm…I deserved the bite. Lucky will come over when I’m getting the feeders ready and at times he lets me stroke his chin or foot. He never has hissed at me, and he was wild caught here in Florida as a fully grown adult. He also has been quick to forgive and resume trusting me after having to fuss with him for meds. I think Hammlet may have hissed or gaped at me a couple of times, but for the most part he would just prefer to move away from me.
I’ve had 3 panther boys and 1 girl. 2 of the boys have been inexplicably ‘affectionate’ for lack of a better word. Jack used to do everything he could to reach me, even wedging himself between his substrate pouch and screen which caused abrasion to his casque. Mango isn’t quite as bad, but with both, as soon as their doors opened, they are out and sitting on my hand or arm. They just seem to enjoy that. It’s not food related as Mango will walk right over the cup with the bugs in it to reach me. I don’t recall if Jack was the same, but I don’t believe food was his motivation. Neither is going outside as Mango freaks as soon as I leave the room with him. There are rare times though when Mango isn’t in the mood for interaction. My guy Bart is a bit more hesitant with interaction. He is most definitely food motivated for rushing to see me when I open his door. He will shoot his little tongue out at whatever he can, thinking it’s food. My panther girl is even more reluctant and since I had to do wound care for her abscess, she is now suspicious even when I offer a treat. She has not been as quick to forgive and trust me as Lucky has been.
Stella has always been the spiciest and has bit me so many times over the years. My other girl veiled Grumpy wasn’t as aggressive. She would just hiss and gape with the occasional feint to bite.
I love them all and their unique personalities and beauties. If I had to pick a favorite, it might be Stella since she doesn’t take any crap and has been so challenging, but she also trusts me, which means so very much.
