My local mom and pop shop are USDA licensed. Does this really make a difference? I know that there are stories on here all of the time about the awful conditions that pet stores have their pets in. This is what it says about being licensed.
The facility is regularly inspected to ensure that it is in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act
Through the inspections it ensures that the animals are in a healthy and safe environment.
Paperwork and reports must me maintained to ensure the the safety, handling transfer and disposition of all animals.
There is an attending veterinarian available 24 hours 7 days a week.
All facilities licensed or registered under the Animal Welfare Act are inspected. Requested inspection reports and supporting documentation can be found online.
I just wonder if this really makes a difference...
