Good question with no definitive answer that I've been able to find (doesn't mean there isn't one). I've read that chameleons—in general—do NOT brumate, that Parson's chameleons DO brumate, that veileds brumate, and other statements.

do chameleons brumate?
do common chameleons brumate?

Given their geographical range, common (Mediterranean) chameleons shouldn't need to brumate if husbandry is up to snuff. 🤷‍♂️

If they are from the northern parts of their range...they (Chamaeleo chamaeleons) will brumate. If they are kept warmer in the winter, in my somewhat limited experience with them, they may not go into a full brumation.

If they don't get cool enough in winter they may not reproduce well the following year as well.

Here you go...
"from late autumn through the winter; this is when food is harder to find and the temperature drops significantly. These reptiles dig burrows in the sandy soil for shelter during hibernation"...(it's really brumation)...

"While some lizard species are active all year round in the chameleon’s range, the chameleon itself has a period of winter inactivity from December to March, during which it normally buries itself or hides beneath rocks"...

TY! Huh. Looking at their range (first link), it does not appear it gets all that cold in those parts of the world.
Farthest north (southern Spain, Turkey) are just south of Washington, DC.
