So what's the most outrageous thing you've done for your cham....

I'll start. Today while I was cleaning out my new boy's cage, he came out as he usually does when I open his door, I noticed he had sperm plugs hanging out. So I didn't even think twice about doing it bare handed and I pulled gently and made sure it wasn't painful for him. Then the whole plug just slid out. My wife looked at me, who the f|%+#!~ did I marry. I was grossed out for a minute but I got over it.

Ok.?.?.?. I am kind of freaked out right now. That is just plain weird what you did. The most outrageous thing I did was build his cage. Lol

LOL guys, you have dedication. I always use long tweezers for stuff like sperm plugs, I won't touch it bare handed! Plus, it means I won't get bitten if one of them doesn't approve of what I'm doing to his man-parts.

My most outrageous thing right was spending an entire night awake with my chameleon, Charlotte, while I tried to keep her comfortable after a freak injury. She managed to swallow her tongue, somehow, and I had to spend all day and night pulling it gently out of her stomach and then keeping it moist. She kept re-swallowing it and it wouldn't fit in her closed mouth, so it was a mess. As soon as the vet opened I dropped her off and she had the tongue amputated. And I then spent the remaining 8 months force feeding her. She ultimately passed a few months ago.

OMG! that's not outrageous. that's just pure awesomeness! sorry for her passing but you are a loving keeper.

MORE stories!!!

I'm still a relativley new keeper and am pondering on this "sperm plug" ... anyone wanna enlighten me on that?

I'm sorry to hear about you losing your cham, especially like that. It must have been painful to live with after going through all that you did to save her and then just lose her :(

I can't really think of anything too wildly ourtrageous that I've done for my cham. But today I did stand out in the open during a light rainful so that he could continue to get some outside time and sun, and experience a natural shower for a change :p

You who touch sperm plugs are more dedicated than me... I also use tongs for that! :p I think the most "outrageous" (although not that crazy) thing I have done is taken Cami to the local pet store, placed her on the cashier's computer, and displayed how chameleons eat superworms to a crowd of non-chameleon-educated onlookers. She was quite the show-off that day :)

The most outrageous thing I have done so far for my chameleons was the time I kept tapping into my college fund for my kids and bought a larger cage, a better mister than the one that was doing a fine job anyway, more books on chameleon husbandry even though the internet has enough info, and a better live plant because the old one was a little too small and I need to expand, and by golly my addiction tells me to...and I need to make sure I have everything dialed in.

wow. envy, i hope you didn't leave a paper trail. cause when it's time for tuition to be paid, you're kids are going to give you the stink eye! LOL ;););)

Seeing as how you are in America, I dont believe that any college fund is going to help your kids at all.

There are plenty of other options for them to pursue to be successful, well rounded human beings.

I would actually recommend teaching them how to live off the grid instead with the way things are going in the world.

So...blow it all on chameleons...and some partying of course.

Actually, I'll bet there are a ton of us forum members who do the same "outrageous" things for our chams every month! I love my addiction. I am grateful that I can at times upgrade. (Even though I think I just wanna visit the pet store)

oh brother. don't i know it. it's very fun taking care of these animals. i mean, i actually spent money to have roaches, worms, crickets, fruitflies to have INSIDE my home unlike joe schmo down the street that spent money to keep roaches, worms, crickets, fruitflies OUTSIDE of their home!

i don't think the worst of the worst has been posted yet. who else!?!?
