Shedding behavior

So! A little while back my veiled chameleon shed and he did this really odd thing where he used his back legs and kinda scratched his casque/face with his claws. He was almost scratching his back spikes. I never saw him ever use his legs like that, and couldn’t find anything like it online.

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen their chameleon do the same?

It was a harmless act and I’m not concerned, just so curious.

I’ve seen mine do it a couple of times. Shedding is itchy business. Usually though I find they rub their heads or faces against a branch.

It’s so interesting. I had never seen him do anything like that so it just caught me off guard.

It can happen. Make sure you have the cage set up with real branches and plants... he will rub on the branches and this will help him to get it off.

I've seen my guy, during partial sheds of his back, scratch himself like a little puppy dog.

It should be fine for him to scratch/pull off the shed with his feet.

I have definitely noticed my dude using his back foot and scratching dry skin similar to a dog lol, he was just trying to get his skin off his head. The first time that I saw it I was definitely taken off guard.
