Behavior

Thank you! I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t too much for a chameleon/not sure if I was misunderstanding/missing something.

My understanding and memory are bad🤣. I’m pretty sure she commented on the SOL vision led being good quality/better than JD, but now I’m going back to double check that I’m remembering correctly. I’ll let you know if I didn’t.

Thank you for your help!!!
my pleasure. :)

Hi! I wanted to give an update. It has been almost a week since I made the changes you recommended and I think his behavior has improved! Thank you!!!!

He will still try to escape, but it isn’t constant, like it was. Before the changes, I was even having trouble getting him to eat because every time I opened the door, he bolted out. He only does that occasionally now. I’ll attach photos of the enclosure after changes. I still have the red hooks but got rid of the red glass orbs and made the light changes.

I’ll also post a better link to the SOL reptile vision LED if you want to look. I am not affiliated at all with them, but I saw such a difference in my beardie and plants after I started using it in the beardie enclosure——the cactus that I had for less than a month started growing new pups that are relatively huge imo, the beardie color improved and his poops became more predictable.

Can you post a picture of the entire enclosure including the lighting on top so I can double check your set up? As already mentioned 6 months is a bit to young to start looking for a mate. They normally become more active with patrolling their area and seeking out a female after the 9 month mark.

While he may just be reacting to getting to come out and wanting to do it again the concern is if something within the cage is making him want to leave it. Chams in general prefer their area and dont tend to like to be out of it when it has what they need. Granted some are more friendly than others. But the first thing you want to look at is cage set up and if something could be causing the behavior.
I wanted to post an update. He is doing so well. I think he is just one of the rare friendly ones. He will be in the back of the enclosure and if we walk into the room, he comes to the front and walks out on our hands. He has definitely calmed down since removing the orbs!!!
