Yup, that was late January and Oscar mated with Mara last month - so fingers crossed for babies this summer! :D

LOL well they are masters of mimicry and camouflage :D
No need to be freaked out by Phoenix though! He was a very fun and social octopus :)

Suzanne,thanks for the morning porn!
They look great.
You're welcome, Chuck! And thank you! :)

Are they CB or WC? Its always great to see chams living such a healthy and long life.

Oscar is most likely WC. The girls were sold to me as CB, but I'm not sure if they really are.
All three were juvies when I got them.

Wow.. and he has lived 4 years? Thats amazing!!!!

Is there a way to tell WC from CB? Hubby loves Jacksons. We were supposed to get one from Titan but after Leo passing this weekend, we just don't feel ready right now.

Hubby wanted an octo tank but we read they only live like 18 months?

To me the only way to tell is by who you're buying them from. At a show, for instance, there are always people that will try to sell WC or CH as CB. I always assume WC unless I know I can trust the seller or I see significant proof (all babies same size, seller knows age, has pictures of hatchlings etc)

18 months is long for most pet trade octos, actually. Especially in recent years most octos we've seen for sale were small indo-pacific species with at best 6 months left to live. Which is why we stopped keeping them.
On the other hand if you can get an Octopus bimaculatus or an O. bimaculoides (both sold as Californian mudflat octos) you will have the coolest pet for the next 12 - 15 months. :)
