Planning on buying new cage...advice!

Hey everyone,
So I plan on purchasing a new and bigger cage for my lovely male veiled chameleon...I saw an overwhelming amount of different cages online and from what I read on the forum's care sheet he needs 24x24x48 cage so I would love to hear what everyone's opinion is on the best of the best cage? Also although price is not an issue it would be nice to hear of some that are fairly reasonable?

Dragon stand make nice ones with lots of options from what I've seen. If you're handy you can build your own, there's alot of diy enclosures on here from basic to advanced in equipment and build of the enclosure it's self.

Yeah I was actually thinking of making my own but I was wondering if it would be cheaper in the long run to just buy one? By the way I think I had spoken to you about my cham being dehydrated and starting the shower sessions? I've been doing it 2 times a week and he is doing great!

That's great to hear! I'm glad he's turning a good corner now for you. Very excellent. Yea the diy can be as cheap or expensive as you want, however,it can Def be built to what you need to the T. ;)
No modifying or cutting holes in something you just paid 100+ for.

I have a Dragon strand and a reptibreeze. They both work fine but the Dragonstrand is much sturdier. You also have the option of using the dragon ledges to hang planks and branches. I also have a drainage tray and the bottom of my enclosure has two bottoms. I can switch between a solid bottom or a screen bottom. I use the screen bottom so the water just falls through to the tray.

I absolutely love my Dragon Strand cage. The breeder series cages have solid sides that really help keep humidity up, and they help keep water from getting on your walls and floors. I know that somebody from Dragon Strand is here on the forum, can't remember the username. Anybody know? You can contact them for custom sizes.

If you want one that's all screen, some of the forum sponsors sell cages. I've ordered from LLLReptile and DIY myself, and had great experiences.

It will be more cost effective to DIY. I made mine 38x38x18. If you go the Enclosures and Supllies Threads mine is the "New to Thread and Chameleon World...." you can see my DIY.

After looking around as well for same size, I went with the Dragonstrand clear cage. I need to update some pics, but here's my thread:

I'd say the only drawback of the clear cage, which isn't really as it's recommended anyway, but I make sure to use distilled water for my mister. Otherwise deposits will be left behind on the clear sides.

Ah thank you so much I think I agree with you and am going to go with the Dragon Strand cage I like the solid sides. I actually have a screened cage right now and winded up putting covers for the 3 sides to keep the humidity up and it really helped so Dragon Strand it is!
