Hi everyone! I just got my first pygmy chameleon this morning! :D

When I initially purchased, I was told it was a male r.brevicaudatus, but after reading various threads and comparing him/her to photos I'm not sure that's necessarily the case! I was wondering if anyone could help give me a definite answer- just so I know and can choose the all important name! :) I've attached a photo of the little critter.

Also, what type of substrate do these little guys prefer? I've read that people use a few different types, but I want to make sure I get this little one everything he or she will enjoy the most.

Any name suggestions would be fantastic too!!!

Thanks everyone, I look forward to learning a lot here! :)

Welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your stay here. :)

You have picked up a male Rhampholeon temporalis. He has the typical flat lips of the species and thick tail base signifying male.

These guys don't like it too hot (70F max) so make sure you place his enclosure in a cool part of your house and/or out of direct sunlight.

Here are some good articles to get you started but please don't be shy about asking questions, there are plenty of rabid pygmy enthusiasts on this board.

Thank you for the help! I wanted to make sure I knew his species and gender so any research I do is on the right little guy! :)
