History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. (Bought him at pets unlimited.... :S)

IM so sorry he died.

I dont see anything off in your set up.

Most likely he was sick when you got him, since you only had him for a week.

Any chance you got some photos of him before he passed?

I did get photos before he passed, I feel a little odd but I took one after aswell, because his eyes are black.. And his casque as well, and around his legs and spots on his tail.. Is this normal?

Once they pass, its common for them to turn black.
Can you post the photo from when he was still alive? Id like to see if i can tell his age.

Most likely, he was too young, and already sick when you got him.

I can try,I'm not very good at posting pictures,

Very sorry to hear this. The first few weeks are often rough on these little guys and if they are not in the perfect health it can be too much for them. Sounds like you have done your research and have a good setup, but sometimes that's not enough if there is an underlying issue. Sorry for your loss :(.

Hes maybe 2-3 months old. about the age he should be when sold.

Honestly, I dont think you had anythign to do with it.

He was sickly when you got him, and the stress of a new environment made it worse.

Im so sorry you lost him.

I just called the pet store I got him from, they cannot give me money back but he was within the 15 day health guarantee.. They can replace him with a new one. But that's pretty much all they can do.. Should I do this?

Thats up to you.

If the new one is alert, eating, drinking, walking around, i might, simply because you are already out the money you spent on one.

If you are not ready, you could ask them to honor that deal in a month or so. Just tell them you want to disinfect everything (which I would do anyway) and make sure that there are no lingering issues.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I have decided to wait, but could only get a store credit.. I'm nervous about getting another chameleon from the store.. So now I'm without a little friend and stuck with a large amount on a gift card... I'm just very unsure of what to do at this point

Wow, I hate pet stores so much when it comes to chameleons. If I were you, I would buy a veiled from one of the sponsors of this website, or just a breeder in the classifieds section. Then I would take the gift card and buy some chameleon items for your enclosure or supplements or something and give your new cham the best enclosure you can. Or you can just use the gift card for cham food for the next few months. Either way, I don't think you should get another one from the pet store.

I really agree. It would be worth your money to get a chameleon from a trusted site like screameleons or lllreptile. With this you are almost guaranteed a healthy chameleon and your able to look at their parents and such. It would be worth your money to buy a chameleon that is in good shape and spend that gift card on some treats for your Cham. Best luck to you if you do buy a new Cham Andy I'm sorry about your loss

i'm so sorry to hear you lost your new friend! i had a similar experience. my first cham was a sickly baby when i got him and died soon after.. its hard losing them but it was not your fault in any way. i hope you will get another sometime as they are great creatures and when you get a healthy one, a long time friend :)

i agree that you should not get another from the store. another good, reputable breeder is Tiki Tiki Reptiles. they have amazing veiled breeders, a good health guarantee, very kind people, and take good care of their animals. i would get your next baby from a good breeder and just use the card for supplies from that store!

I am so sorry for you, I do not have a cham myself yet, but i could not imagine how sad i would be if this happened to me shortly after i got him. :(:(:(

and if your looking for an explanation camimom is most likely correct. so sorrry for your loss :(:(
