I'm so heartbroken! My new baby veiled chameleon has died i don't know what to do... I thought I was doing everything right..
Please if you think there is anything I can do or change if I decided to get Another let me know...
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species (veiled chameleon), sex (believed to be male!), and age of your chameleon (unsure of age) . How long has it been in your care?( one week )
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? ( just a few times, mostly to show him his feeding dish, in the pet store they just threw the crickets in, I fear my cage is too big to do that for him yet and he won't find them as there is so much more room )
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham?( crickets) What amount? ( So far he has only eatten 1-2 a day ) What is the schedule? ( Feed him around 10am) How are you gut-loading your feeders?( carrots, lettuce, apple slices and the cricket food from the pet store)
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? Exoterra calcium, exoterra multivitamin, and rep cal phosphorus-free calcium with d3. Calcium with every feeding and Calcium with d3 and multivitamin twice a month
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? ( looking into a dripper and misting) How often and how long to you mist? 3-5times a day for about a minute- minute and a half) Do you see your chameleon drinking?( haven't seen him drink yet)
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings.( white. Paste-y or brown) Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?( not that I know of)
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. (Bought him at pets unlimited.... :S)
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) (screen terrarium) What are the dimensions? (24h x 24w x18d)
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? (Exoterra reptile uvb 100, 26w-former repti glo 5.0 compact- and an exoterra 75w daylight spot basking light "sun glo") What is your daily lighting schedule? (All lights on at 7am and off at 7pm on a timer)
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? (Basking spot 78*-80*) Lowest overnight temp? ( Down to 70*) How do you measure these temps? (Exo terra thermometer)
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? (30%-50%) How are you creating and maintaining these levels? (Misting 4-5 times a day and looking into a dripper) What do you use to measure humidity?(exo terra hygrometer)
Plants - Are you using live plants? ( No live plants, trying to find a ficus benjamina) If so, what kind?
Placement - Where is your cage located? ( a corner in the living room) Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? ( not near any fans, air vents, semi close to bathroom door) At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?( not sure, probably 3.5-4feet)
