Tested Postive for Parasites

Hello again,

I got my hands on a Dragon Strand cage and wanted go transfer Jax into that new one. Based on advice here, I took him to get tested for parasites.

Low and behold, he tested postive for pinworm and roundworm. I'll be meeting with the doctor tomorrow to get his medicine which all they told me was liquid and ill be getting him weighed.

I want advice for what my next step should be from here to help prevent this. This includes feeders too.
I know how this forum works so please just bear this in mind:
Jax was given to me with very little time to research and financially prepare. I was given the wrong enclosure, bulbs, watering tips and pretty much anything else the pet store tried to sell my mom. She gave this to me as a gift in October which was the worse time for me ESSPECIALLY with money and college. It has taken me a very long time to finally be able to get this new cage and be able to have optimal husbandry. My current enclosure right now is not the best(id almost say just scrapping by). I'll fill out the form nonetheless for you guys to get a better idea (I'd also like to get advice on how you guys dealt with worm diagnosis for your chams)

Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Nosey-be Panther Chameleon. We got him when he was about 5 months in October so 11 months old most likely.

Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Barley. The most i do is open the cage for him and let him climb around safely and if he wants to climb on me he can. (As i said my cage size isnt great so i try to do this often).

Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
he only eats discoids and frankly discoids are easier for me to manage at the moment. He moved away from crickets. :/ I feed him 4-5 every other day and they range from the size of a quarter and Nickle size. I gut load them with carrots and potatoes as we tend to eat those often in my home and let the roaches have the peices left over(which is a lot). I also sometimes do bug burger(if it actually solidifys correctly for me)

Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
The Repticalcium without d3(phosphate free) supplament every feeding and the Repticalcium with d3 supplament plus Reptivite Viatmin with d3 twice a month(every other week).

Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
I have a Mister but due to the cage I didn't want to invest too deeply so I cannot use it due to water going everywhere. However in mornings and in afternoons I hand-mist for 2 minutes. Yes, I do see him drink but only when I'm not there(he's very sneaky to make sure I'm not looking).

Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
Fecal has ranged from looking healthy with great picate(?) To watery or chunky and no solid picate, But that's most likely due to the parasites.

History - I mentioned some info above but please ask any questions

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
The Cage I have currently is Large Reptibreeze screen cage and the new cage I am making is a Dragon Strand Hybird with 2x2x4. I have a Arcadia T5 25 Watt UVB 24"(which is lifted up a few inches to create a better gradient) and Exo-Terra Heat Bulb which I believe is 60 watt.(I'm at work right now so bear with me-). Lights come on at 8(my room is usually very dark, light comes in right around 8) and lights go out at 8. I don't use any nighttime lights.

Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Basking Temp is 80-85F Lowest temp in cage at the bottom ranges from 72-74F(which is what the house temp is like.) Lowest Overnight temp is 72-74F. I measure this with a temp gun and a temp-humidity reader in the cage.

Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
40-50% during the day. Nighttime, due to the plants being fake I can only get it to 60%- 65%. I use a fogger with the nighttime mist to keep that as high as I can try(also spraying braches too that soak up water is a way I've found kinda retains that humidity.

Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Fake plants that are made of a softer, like vynyl plastic? Nothing sharp or fabricy to keep.him from hurting himself or too much bacteria collection. I take these plants out frequently to clean them good with safe soap and dry them off before putting them back in the cage.

Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
His cage is in my room, near an air vent but he's not directly underneath it and I try to keep the house at a decent temp for him. Very low traffic and cage is covered at night so my night light does disturb him. In all inches/feet off the ground he's about 2 half feet off the ground on a table.

Location - Where are you geographically located?
Southern Florida

Again, please just bear in mind of what I said above the form. As soon as he feels better, he will have a much, much better enclosure set up with real plants, misting schedules and all the optimal husbandry marks fulfilled waiting for him.

When you are concerned about parasites I would occasionally check for parasites with parasite testing, feed known parasite free feeders and keep your chameleons enclosure clean.

Anyone else want to chime in?

What are some example of parasite free feeders? And thank you for your advice by the way.
I buy my bugs from LindasGoneBuggie and I have stopped buying from pet stores(which is probably where he could've possibly gotten them from)
And yes, definitely keeping it clean. As soon as I bring him home from the vet, I am gonna deep clean and pressure wash the plants and branches(resanitize them too).

I would look for feeders that are coming from a clean parasite free source as much as possible. My guidance is to stay away from questionable sources of feeder insects.
