Just saw the Phineas and Ferb chameleon episode...

I am very confused after this. My sis was watching it so I joined her. Phineas and Ferb find a chameleon. Everything about it is wrong, but pretty funny. Instead of walking, it jumped. When it did walk, it was on two legs... It didn't eat with its touge and of course, used camouflage on everything. It was pretty hilarious though! At least they chose a color that actually exists on a chameleon, it was orange and yellow

You should watch the curious George finds a chameleon episode... My nephew watched it with my mom and sister the other day and try were quite excited... Haha

Still.. if you're a big company or atleast a big tv show you should atleast spend five seconds googling whether or not a chameleon really does do that. Now a bunch of kids will be mislead.

Well... The show also leads you to believe that having an architect's triangle lodged inside your head is not a fatal condition... So if we're worried about what it's teaching kids maybe we should start there!

Haha, it's not just that show, every cartoon that has a chameleon shows them matching their surroundings.

Yeah. Well it's not entirely based in fiction. I mean, they ARE designed to fit into their native environment, at least when they're younger and the males are calmer. So they don't change to fit they're environment, rather they already ARE made like their environment. I think that's where the myth comes from. People see them being fired up (probably telling them to stay away, and then as the chameleons calm down after being observed for a while they go back to being more drab colors, they look as if they'd intentionally changed to match what they were on. (or some situation like that) and the myth is born!

Oh trust me, the misleading you should be worried about would make you forget what a chameleon even is! Its just in good fun though. Im sure it came about, from people saying "They can change color!" and "They are very good at chamoflaging themselves!" So it just gets interpreted wrong.
