Many people use a mix of play sand and substrate like eco earth or coco fibre. The key is to make sure that their eyes are rinsed and cared for after they use the lay bin. Apparently her previous owner didn't do that. I'm sorry it is not treatable at this point.

Agreed^ there are other options but I don’t really see them as more or less safe. Either way she’s going to be throwing substrate every where, I’d still give it a shot....

Lol, I can vacuum and clean up substrate. I’d rather her be safe than possibly cost her other eye just for my convenience. But I will keep it a option of she doesn’t like a mixed lay bin
