You should get a feeder run and pour 10-15 bugs into it and walk away. That way he can eat in "privacy" in his own time....even if you're still watching from somewhere. He will feel more comfortable if you close his door and he can have his space. It is like you say, he is still getting used to you.

My year old male wont even accept more than 1 or 2 from me, so I normally only feed treats like hornworms from my hand or on a leaf. All the rest go into his feeder run I got from tkchameleons.com but you can also make your own for very cheap.

Awesome! Absolutely make it, and put some feeders into it, even if you still do some hand feeding at least he will have extra to eat when he feels

What did you use to secure the mesh to the bottle?
You can get a little paperclip and unfold one end, stick it in the top of the bottle lid, and use it to hook to your screen.....just an idea.

Just leaned it against a few branches it seems very secure but if it doesn't work then I'll get a paper clip

I moved the feeder run cup so it's easier to eat from and he has been rubbing his head on sticks and scratching his back he has also done something that looks like a t Rex roaring with no sound, def shedding.
