Info Cards

I am going to make some business cards. They will provide helpful links to helpful websites.

If you have a suggestion, please post an address below!

Keep in mind we need links with info on where to buy products from and how to care for the animal and where to get vet help.

I will start with:

www.chameleonforums.com
www.uvguide.co.uk/index.htm
www.ChamEo_Org
www.raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com
www.herpvetconnection.com/
www.LLLReptile.com
www.Mulberryfarms.com

I know there are tons of links... but please share if you have one that isn't posted! This could also be used as a database for new members to find helpful info!

This might sound a bit odd, but making the info seem as least discouraging as possible would probably make most pet shops more comfortable in handing them out. They are after all in the business of selling, and this is the best we can do to prevent another "Sweet Maggie" situation.

Anyways great idea, I would gladly reimburse printing costs for a big handful.

Good stuff!

hey summoner,

i would definitely put the e-zine up on there also:

It was in the back of my head but slipped out! Good call! Thank!

Everyone, every link is helpful! Please post away. I may choose some links for my cards over others but mostly based on the fact that if its a business and its local I would pick it over a business that isn't so local. Anyone can draw from the list and make their own cards.

This is a brainstorm thread, a sharing link thread.

Could work

Maybe two versions are in order... the kind you hand to a store owner or manager... and the kind you pass to someone in a petshop on your own.

Whatever works. And remember for a small format like a card, less is more. I agree with Dodo that card should be as minimal as possible. Perhaps one side has resources, and the other side has a quick cheat sheet with equipment and basic care info, etc.

Simple is good

That's a good idea. Maybe even a link to a site with all of these links?

I would really like to get LLL to have a link on their site of all the basics needed for a setup. The supplements needed, the right UVB tube/fixture, the right cage for the age of the animal, the right heat lamp, a couple of vines, a ficus and a sheet with links to places to find good info.

That all seems like something for another thread.. for now.. link ideas! :D

Oh, I came up with another one before I go to bed.
Try not to push anything commercial for the pet store cards. They probably won't be cool with us listing anything that sells products they themselves would rather provide. Like commercial bugs, LLL, etc.

I know a varied diet is important, but I guess at that point one would have to hope they pick up the info from the forums or kittieblog.

My only thought would be to some how list LLLreptile as a supply place rather that a place to buy that first cham. A beginner might see those prices and not know if he is getting a healthy animal or not. Any way to do a link to breeders in the area to keep peolpe out of the petmarts for chams?

I wonder...

Maybe Adobe Professional software allows one to convert the finished info/business card to a fill-in form. There would be empty lines for a person to type in their favorite/local "cham-links" aside from the obvious, www.chameleonforums.com which would be good to have on all cards.

I don't know exactly how this works because I haven't played with the software for a couple of years. But I used to do a lot of blueprint modifications for a client using the software.

On the version I have, any document can be made into a form. You enter fields to be filled in by the user. It may be something that can be modified by someone using Adobe Reader which is free. From there the person can print the modified version on their own printer.

Just an idea. Does anyone else here use Adobe Professional?

Holy crap thats a lot of links!

I would have to agree with Dodolah. Less is better, especially if you dont want to hand out a note book for a business card. I would say the links sandra and brad provided would be enough. If you use the chamforums links and let everyone know who wants to participate to put links on there that isnt already would be a good idea to keep it minimal.

THis is a great Idea and I would participate. I think if you presented it to personally owned petshops in the right manner they would greatfully accept to pass out the card after selling a chameleon to get the owner to do more research. Then again they might think, Hey I know what they need already get this crap out of my store:rolleyes: Its definatly worth trying though. Great idea!!!!

Also if you just put the forums on the card and not refer to the card as being a husbandry aspect and more of a community type oportunity it might go over with the petshop owners a little better. It probably would do good to make a couple of different ones say for petshops, reptile shows, etc.

Holy crap thats a lot of links!

It's too many for a business card size. Doh! Now what? LOL

Can we have something that has the forum logo on it? If we can start the lay out, I could try the Adobe idea and send it back to you to see if it works. After cleaning the cages, of course!
