How can I tell my chameleon is eating?

I have a terrible sleep schedule so i wake up super late. I decided to put a bowl of crickets at the bottom of my chameleons cage so that she can eat whenever she wants, but I can’t tell if she’s eating. She’s been acting fine, but I have noticed whenever I come near her she gets defensive could this mean she stressed out from not eating or is she just very antisocial. And I was trying to hand feed her but she wouldn’t eat, could she have been full or just mad at me. I’m very worried.

I wouldn’t put the cup at the bottom of the cage. Are the crickets getting out of the bowl? If not you should be able to count how many are in the cup before and after taking it out.

No they aren’t getting out. I’m gonna start counting them. Thank you!

I use a Shooting Gallery feeder to track my chams appetites. I would have lost one of my favorite girls in December if I hadn't been using it. She's eating like a champ now.
Crickets rarely escape and it hold everything else but bean beetles perfectly. I never wonder if the bugs are hiding or have been eaten.
