Pictures of your setup please.
*Male veiled chameleon 3-4 Months
*After a week I plan on handling the chameleon while feeding and maybe some free roam
I wouldnt handle after just a week. Give him at least 2 weeks so adjust, then you can work on handfeeding. Eventually you can use food to lure him out onto your hand. This may take a little while. Never force him. Forcing him will create fear.
*I don’t kNow how much feeding I will do I plan on crickets for now I have some d3 and some vitamins powder , and will gut load with potatoes and oranges and I read chameleons like mangos so I might try that with hand feeding
Um I wouldnt feed mangos to your chameleon. You will want to feed you chameleon as many crickets as he will eat (usually about 15, maybe even 20 small feeder per day at this age). As he gets older we can work on reducing his food.
Dont feed potatoes for gutload. You will want to use lots of different leafy greens, veggies, maybe a bit of fruit. It's also recommended to use some sort of commercial gutload, such as Cricket Crack or Bug Burger. Lots of variety is key. I will post a gutloading sheet for you to go off off.
Okay so you will need a calcium with d3 powder, calcium without d3 powder, and a multivitamin without d3 powder.
Calcium without d3 every day. Calcium with d3 ONCE every other week (twice per month), and then the multivitamin without d3 ONCE every other week (twice per month). Alternate the weeks of d3 and multivitamin.
*i have a little dripper and misting every six hours rn for 30 secs
I would mist for 2-4 minutes in the morning, 2-4 minutes in the evening. You can also do a very short midday misting aswell. You can use the dripper throughout the day.
Personally I mist before the basking light comes on, but after the uvb comes on. Then in the evening I mist after the basking light goes off, and before the uvb is off. Then for my midday misting the basking light goes off for 15 minutes before, and stays off for 15 minutes after, then is back on.
My schedule is UVB and my grow light on at 7am, mist at 7:30am for 3.5 minutes, basking light on 8am, basking light off at 12pm, mist for 45 seconds at 12:15pm, basking light back on at 12:30, basking light off at 6, misting for 4.5 minutes at 6:30, uvb and grow light off at 7pm. Everything is controlled with timers and an automatic misting system.
Cage
* 40 inches tall 28 inches on each side with screen on all for sides
* lighting rn for heat I followed Neptune lighting with a natural household light
And will take him outside for a couple of hours for uvb In till my hood light comes in because I was dumb and bought a compound uvb and the time is 8am-8pm , lowest temp at night would be 65 -60 maybe in the winter
Okay so you will be getting the 5.0 reptisun T5HO fixture and bulb. And then you have a basking bulb. Good.
Your highest branch should be at about 10-12 inches away from your lights.
While you wait for your UVB lighting to come in, taking him outside for a while each day is a good idea. Try not to scare him while removing him from his cage to take him outside as he wouldn't have settled yet. I would bring a plant outside for him to sit on too. Keep a VERY close eye on him, they will climb off the plant and take a break for it the moment you look away.
* humidity I planed for about 60 in during the day and night I use a hydrometer (I think that’s what they are called
Make sure you use a digital thermometer and hygrometer, not the cheap dials.
* Hawaiian tie and devils ivy live plants with fake vines and some sticks
* the cage is in my room the bottom of the cage is maybe 4 feet up and their is one ceiling fan in the room , low traffic
* I’m located in Oklahoma
