George's first shower

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd share some more George news :)

George is now fairly large. Heavy enough that his grasp is quite painful on my skin. He's still the friendliest chameleon in the world and while there have been some days of worry (Knowing me, just a bit of over-worrying) close work has made sure he returns to normal quite quickly. I'd say he's about 15" in length now give or take. His age is still a mystery but my best guess is 9 months.

A few days ago, George shed again. It was the longest wait between shedding so far and took almost a month and a half from his last shed, even though his growth was quite significant (Not as much as it used to be, though). I've noticed his appetite has decreased and as a result his rate of growth. He hasn't got much further to go before being full size, I imagine.

So today was his first shower. We actually have quite a nice shower with a seat at home, which means I can point the showerhead onto the seat and have it trickle like rain. Needless to say I was soaked after trying to get it perfect but it turned out quite nicely. So I went and grabbed his fake branch and tried to get it to stand on the bottom, wrapped some fake leaves around it and make him a shower hub.

Needless to say he didn't particularly like it at first. He was always trying to get back to me. After a few minutes he seemingly calmed and started drinking a little bit of water from the fake leaves. He sat on the branch for 10 minutes before I took him out and put him back in his house. Hopefully he'll get completely used to it soon, until then I'll probably make this a weekly event.

So here are some photos.

Here he is trying to come back to me.

Here he is after the shower, glowing like I've never seen him glow before.

Nice to get and update and some new pictures of George. He sure has grown allot and more handsome than ever. I noticed with my guys that as they get older that don't shed as ofter and sometimes just shed in sections. Their eating also slows down and I went to feeding every other day and then later 3 days a week. Thanks for sharing his pictures. His colors are just gorgeous in the last picture. Jann

He's a little spoiled man. Hopefully he'll remain friendly for his whole life, I feel that he misses the outdoor adventures we used to go on during the summertime. I know I am :p Can't wait for the temperature to rise again, here's hoping the UK has a good summer in 2012.

Awesome "Glow" on that boy. He really pops off the page:)

Excellent pictures and thanks for showing him off.

Snap mate :) George looks ace fired up! :D You'll be wanting to get him showered a lot then........... mine don't like it so much.

Something I forgot to mention was the misting system. This arrived about 3 weeks ago and we finally got it set up.

It isn't entirely done yet. I need a water heater for it really, as I don't want to freeze the poor guy. He has plenty of space to escape the rain as well. We set it up so 4 nozzles are roughly around the middle and the sides stay dry, meaning most vegetation in the enclosure is soaked during the misting.
