Dubia Colony in Colorado

I know many use the thermal heat from bioactivity as the only heat for the Dubia, but I'm in Colorado. I'd like to see some bug room setups as I plan to start a dubia colony this weekend. CHE? Where do you place it? Do you use a lid? Does the heat melt the rubbermaid? Probably seem like dumb questions but I'd rather not do something that results in escapees or dead buggos.

My colony is in a closet that I heat to 88 degrees. They are breeding like crazy seance I put them in there with a constant temp.

I have an idea. If you have an empty closet put the colony in there and from the rod hang a che. Make sure you have it connected to a thermostats to control the heat

I use these 12v powered ones. They will stay on forever. If there is a power outage, they turn off and stay off. I figure i might not want to run 120v for months and this will be safer. Worst case the wall wort craps out.

That looks perfectly safe, 3ft from a wall, not directly on carpet, well ventilated area...

It’s fine, only kicks on for a min or two at a time. Your right though, there are safer ways to do it

Nevermind the sticky notes. Going on vacation this weekend to the Mother land of Minnesota to watch my Vikings beat the Donkeys. Anyways I just use a 10 gallon terrarium heat pad underneath thick Rubbermaid. No issues and my colony seems to be producing. I had a lot of adult males to start but I've been feeding and tend to always try to find adult males to feed off first. You want to have a 1M/5F ratio. Hope this helps.
