Hello been a while since I’ve posted.
Summer time is here and it is already reaching the 100s. Plus it is getting really dry.
To reach his lower night time temps we have to use air conditioning which really lowers the humidity.
I’ve had bad experiences with humidifiers and mold so what I’ve been doing was spraying his enclosure throughout the day. I’m also watering all the other plants more frequently to keep the humidity up.
He is always lapping up water from the top of his enclosure and has a steady appetite for super worms, hornworms, and dubia roaches.
His heat lamp points down at the door hinge where he likes to bask directly under it for short periods of time in the morning. This way the heat lamp isn’t shining directly on wet plants which could cause wilting.
When the sun starts beaming through the window, I turn off his heat lamp to save power since the room is already warm by then and he can just bask using the sunlight.
I no longer close the door for his enclosure since starting his free range setup.
He has gotten quite big and his legs are noticeably more muscular which I believe is a result of all the climbing.
He has gotten extremely comfortable with human contact including my spouse and kids especially if he needs a shortcut to different areas of the room.
After shedding he sometimes has spots that seem to really hold on to old shed (as seen in some photos) and I use a wet q-tip to remove them and doesn’t seem to really bother him.
So far has been a wonderful experience and he is only about 2 years old. I really hope he lives a long life with us.
