Chameleons drinking water

Hi, I bought a veiled Chameleon two days ago, he has been hanging around the heat and UVB spots as usual, but when I mist his cage regularly he isn't going down to drink water, or at least not so far this morning, is this normal? if not what should I do cause I don't want him to get dehydrated!

if that gives you any comfort, I have had Pablo for a month, and I have never seen him drink. Not once. As long as his eyes aren't sunken in and the urates are white, don't worry about it.

Yeah, I checked him out his eyes do not seem to be shriveled and are nice and full and they aren't cloudy great or white

I still don't have a Mistking, I spray manually and what I discovered with my Jacksons male is he won't open his mouth to drink until about 5 minutes after I start. That doesn't mean I'm spraying the whole 5 minutes, I break it up so I don't over water the bio viv.

Chameleons are shy drinkers and it's very common to not see them drink especially if they are in a new environment. Pablo is right - best way to check if they are hydrated is from their urates (the white part of their poop). As long as it is white/cream in color, your guy is hydrated. It's also common for the first poop or two after you bring them home to show signs of dehydration.




Also should mention some chams don't drink from misters. My panther cham being one of them. He will however drink from the dripper I made for him. I'm linking a video that shows you how to make one. Super easy. Super cheap.

Thank you so much for the information, I sprayed for 5 minutes with small breaks in between, I don't really know how to write this without explaining it as it is, during some times he was open and I saw him drink and other times he turned a darker green than I have seen before and ran away from me even after being green a few seconds earlier and drinking water

Yes as long as the bottle is washed really well and it is a slow drip onto some leaves.
