Bowser drinking from the bowl!

Not sure what Normal is anymore, but this is why its so important to keep the water CLEAN all the time. 
Now that you know he does it, make sure to clean that bowl ALL THE TIME!!!

I agree with both, what's normal, and keep it clean!!
I freaked when I saw Smeagie lapping up a water puddle on the same floor he poops on!!
Floors get zapped with ammonia cleaner every week, and, of course, poop gets cleaned up the second I see it.
It's the only thing that cant wait or be put off, no matter if I'm late for work, phone is ringing or dinner is burning.
Poop detail comes first
