Any advice on how to keep chameleons warm during a power outage during a blizzard?

As some of you may know, the DC area will be getting between 20-30 inches of snow over the next few days. There will be high winds and a chance of power outages across the region.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to keep chameleons warm if the power goes out? We tried to get a generator, but they're all sold out and our place is too small for a gas powered one (even if we wanted to spend close to $700 on one). Aside from moving them to the car or boiling hot water to keep near their cages, we haven't had many creative ideas on how to keep them warm. Any ideas are much appreciated!!

Hey vermeleon,
if you have a fire place , get some wood , many have a natural gas starter , turn that on. also is your water heater natural gas powered, this will still work if electricity is cut. fill all your bath tubs with hot- warm water. this will help keep your place a little warmer. move your Cham to a bathroom. i have kept my Chams alive here in Nebraska when we have power outages. Good luck hope your power stays on!

Do you have any neighbors or friends with woodstoves or fireplaces? Hit them up to see if they could take your chams on short notice. Do you have smaller transport cages? If not, airline kennels or cardboard boxes with screen window cutouts and some wedged twigs can work. In a real pinch just an enclosed cardboard box with a wedged perch will help them snooze away the chill in the dark. There are many good reasons to have these things ready before you might need them.

If you really get stuck and can't go anywhere you can always put your chams in boxes with perches and a moist towel, wrap you and the box in a blanket together. Heat some water bottles and keep reheating them while you do have power and when it goes out you can put them in the cage and wrap it in a blanket.
