Oh the joy of seeing my very first successfully hatched little guy!! His sister hatched the next morning but she isn't quite as energetic as he is..... (I'm guessing their sexes loosely based on tail length like I determine on their parents, but I'm not sure how accurate that is at their age? anyone know a good way to sex this young or does my method work fine at any age?)

climbed right out of his little deli cup and straight up my finger quite eagerly and then he camped down...i couldn't get the little bugger to go back onto a stick for the longest time...

for a few more pics see here: https://picasaweb.google.com/110155...&authkey=Gv1sRgCIy5leWi0arjAw&feat=directlink

EDIT: i was worried about the second hatch since she had very little energy and rarely climbed.....earlier today she was just laying flat on a leaf and wouldn't grip anything I brought near her at all...feared the worst and came home to find her passed away with her tongue sticking out ... :(

how exciting! I probably would have missed them they are sooo Tiny. But very cute! Good luck with your babies.

Aren't they just the cutest tiniest things ever?! Tail length is accurate from the beginning so you probably have one of each if that's how it looks! Congrats on your itty bitty babies!

Its so itty bitty teeny tiny. Normally, im not a fan of pygs, but this baby might be changing my mind.

That is what I was told to feed them....I raise D.mela's (1/16") and D.hydei (1/8") for my frogs.

The Hydei are absolutely too big, but the mela's are "ok". I say "ok" at best because even the mela's at 1/16" are roughly the size of the baby's head. I ordered pinhead crickets online that arrived the day before they hatched (giving myself mad props for guessing the hatch date to within ONE day :D)

The pinhead cricks are perfect for feeding them....but those crickets are growing up really fast!
