Is it possible that her eyes were irritated by something and she had been rubbing them? I had a tavetana once who seemed like she was very OCD and would constantly rub one eye. I had to rinse it with saline twice a week and it seemed to keep the rubbing to a minimum. I use the CVS plain...
I would like to hear from anyone who had sick tavs last year. I am interested to know what the issues were as you interpreted them. Mine seemed to all have some kind of viral infection (could have been bacterial but was slow moving) with the same symptoms. It was like the wholesalers were...
I agree. The K. tavs that came in last year were in absolutely horrible shape. They seemed really dehydrated and just very ill -- all with seemingly the same issues.

I know which species it is but I promised to keep it a secret!
Aahhhhh! Are you, by chance, importing any of these K. mysteriosi to the U.S.? 'Fess up.
There have been repeated ads on Kingsnake for pairs of this species. Did I miss something? Or did export open up for them in the recent past? If so, why is the only person selling them identified only as "charlie" who also seems to have an endless supply of parsonii? Anyone know anything?
I've kept tavetanas for several years now. When they come in wild caught, they can have a high parasite load, but in my experience when you try to acclimate and deal with parasites at the same time, they do poorly. I dust every feeder with calcium (no d3) every single feeding. They seem to be...
There aren't shortages when Tanzania is open. It has been intermittently open. Your male is probably an adult. They tend to lose some of their color as they age. I had a male that lived 5 years. I have a female who is nearly four. In my experience, not all males are hot and bothered to...
I'm so sorry this happened! Based on all of your posts about this, I wonder if she had developed a systemic infection of some sort? Although, I think what you are saying about having so many babies might have contributed to her inability to move very well. Perhaps they were pressing on that...
I've got ten perfectly forms K. multi eggs. Unfortunately, they came out the hard way. The female that was shipped to me by mistake a week ago was hugely gravid. She did well until today. She was outside in her cage and drinking and basking. She started circling this afternoon and began to...
You know, now that I look at this photo again, it looks like there is a gland abscess at the jaw on the mandible. There is a lot going on here and again I would recommend a vet visit as soon as possible.
I've seen WC's come in like this. These look like maybe two different things. The black spots loo like wounds - bites or scratches. Was he in with another cham? The skin "flakes" look to me like a fungal infection (or could be bacterial) from unshed skin being allowed to stay on the cham...
I think there is a theme going here, if I an summarize. WC are not for beginners. If you've had long and successful experience with reptiles in general and chams in particular, then WC's can be a very good way to start a breeding project. Look at seeco (on the forums) who I think is now on F4...
I've gotten chams from Florida Chams and they know what they are doing. Their care sheets are good and the setups they sell are as well. I second the comments about the fact that it would be much much easier for you to keep a veiled or a panther in the AZ climate. Unless you are willing to...
I agree the horns are just huge. But look at that photo...how many of you ever, EVER pick up a cham wearing gloves?? Seems a little bit of overkill. I can see the headlines: HUGE CHAMELEON ATTACKS PEOPLE ON WALKING TRAIL. or WILDLIFE OFFICIAL LOSES EPIC BATTLE WITH MUTANT HORNED CHAMELEON. :D
I usually put at least some of my chams outside in the summer. I live in PA and with montane species, I have had them outside from mid-April into October if the weather is ok. If it gets blisteringly hot in July and August, I will bring them in. I had a melleri that would watch everytime...
