    Gargoyle gecko eggs

Lol, yes that's the term, thanks! I did have 1 empty egg but no sign of a hatchling. I did quite a thorough search after finding the empty - both of eggs and babies. I have placed them in my egg cooler. Will see if anything happens.

    Gargoyle gecko eggs

So, I've had a gargoyle for around a year. Bought her (obviously a female now) as a baby. While cleaning out her cage I found 4 eggs, and 1 egg shell. Having gone through a few clutches of chameleon eggs now, I can say these eggs totally look viable. I've read that gargoyles are capable or...

Need feeder advice for my spoiled picking Cham that HATES crickets!

Doesn't seem too bad to me. My big boy faly also lives his silkies. I mix in a hornworm to promote hydration (break mandibles first if a bigger hornworm). Otherwise, he doesn't typically eat lots. Id rather give him a few silks every few days than crickets anyway - arguably more healthy and...

How many chameleons do you own?

I have a lot... but realistically I have about 6 I plan to keep. 2 males of breeding age, 1 female of age, 2 females in waiting any whichever i decide to keep from my first clutch. Add in about 60 chams in various stages... lots of cages, lighting etc. Phew.

Its been a while so heres an update

Oh trust me, she was my first and my love. Late last year I had to take an emergency trip and left her in the care of someone else for about 6 days and came back to her rapid decline. Truly a miserable experience. It really made me question if I wanted to continue keeping. If not for the fact I...

Its been a while so heres an update

Good to see you still around!! Losing my female really broke my heart. Was brutal for me. She came from petco and I nursed her from MBD. Thought we were out of the woods and she ended up having egg issues. Was tough for sure.

Its been a while so heres an update

I've had about 3 clutches hatch in short order. They were laid a few months apart but all seemed to hatch within weeks of each other. I've sold most of the first clutch of faly - though thats not why I'm posting. I'd like to add a word to potential breeders and simply put "its not as easy as it...

    New noseybe panther hatchling help!

Yea, that sounds much closer. My clutch hatched mid April. I've moved on to pin heads for the bigger ones and Hyedi for both. Crickets will tend to stay near the bottom but will eventually migrate towards the heat lamp or an upper corner. However, if they're hiding in the bottom it could be...

    New noseybe panther hatchling help!

Now that I'm back home, here's how I keep the babies prior to their full cages: And just cause we're on the subject, here are my babies: I'm not exactly an "experienced breeder" but I'm more than happy to share my methods. Best wishes!

    New noseybe panther hatchling help!

Would probably be ok for just the one cham. I have a bigger cage but I also have 10ish in them from time to time. The ones I have are very similar to the medium reptibreeze cages. The idea is that the mesh of a butterfly cage is fine enough to keep in the fruit flies and provide a climbing area...

    New noseybe panther hatchling help!

I use butterfly cages for my hatchlings. I agree with Salty that your cham is in the "weeks old" range. Google butterfly cages on Amazon - they're $12 which is super cheap. Also you'll want to, as previously mentioned, get pin head crickets and fruit flies. Careful with crickets as they will...

    Baby chameleon (Lots of questions)

Basically what Jan said. I have a t5 6% UV light shared between two butterfly cages with a "clamp lamp" heat bulb that i turn on and off and constantly move. I also use natural sunlight [via outdoors] and they sit by a window [which doesn't offer UV]. Since my critters have a room encased by...

Baby panther chameleon setup cleaning tips?

I too use paper towels on the bottom. I've actually transitioned from using bins to now using butterfly cages. The butterfly cages have 5 mesh sides and a clear plastic panel on one of the long [tall?] Sides. I turn them sideways so they aren't so tall, plastic panel down. I add a bunch of small...

How many chameleons do you have?

Its easy to go overboard, but I think that overboard is double digits. Living in Florida, I rotate my boys and girls out to the patio on a free range daily. However, as someone previously mentioned, it can cause some serious issues if you ever have to leave home. Recently I had to make a trip to...

Reptile Show (Denver) - Is VIP worth it?

So here's my experience with reptile shows and expos: Prices are all over the place... in the same expo you can get a male ambilobe for $400-200 and females for $50. One tip I can give you is ask about the pedigree or lineage, not that it matters much, but a good breeder will readily answer...

    Going outside?

I let my chams out daily.. theres no substitute for true sun. That said, they are surprisingly fast when they want to be and can climb things you'd never expect. I give mine fairy constant supervision, but I also let them explore SOME. I'm never far away though. This is one of my males...

    Calcium in water?

Not suggested to do, as stated. The reason it doesnt work, for learning purposes, is because unlike many reptiles, chameleons do NOT absorb through their skin. This is why it is recommended to use distilled, spring or RO [reverse osmosis] water. The minerals will build up on their scales, eyes...

It all began with a 'First Contact'

Simply put, the prevailing theory is that the occasional pinky is "unnatural". From what I've been able to research, the pinky being so young actually contains very minimal calcium in its bones as they haven't fully developed. They also take quite a long time for the chams to digest. Kinyonga...

CRICKETS LOOSE IN THE HOUSE HELP!

They wont mate unless you keep your house temps in the mid-upper 80s, hehe. Chances are you won't find them in your bed either. They'll probably hang out around the kitchen collecting debris and water. Same is true around dog and cat food/water station, etc. They will also try and escape the...

CRICKETS LOOSE IN THE HOUSE HELP!

When you said your cat knocked over your cricket house I was thinking of how I have 1500 in a bin with no lid on top of my roach bin (and also my curious cats). With 20-30 (lol), your cat will have a field day. My wife has 3 of the squish face cats - they're super low energy and don't even...
