    Pyg's Hatching....first feeding?

Just wondering if those of you who have had pgymy brevs hatch before know when they need to eat their first meal? Mine are hatching now, and one is already out of his shell. I bought fruit flies too early, thinking the eggs would hatch about a month ago, and the flies are dead now. I just...

Time frame for Brev to lay eggs

Any input from those of you with pygs on what a "normal" time frame is for a female brev to lay her eggs? Mine has been in her little hole since before dawn, and it's 8:30PM now. I see one egg next to her. Her last clutch, about a month and a half ago, she was done in about 10 hrs. I'm hoping...

Thinking of expanding my brev colony

The rule for Brevs is 10 gallons per animal. I imagine you could go smaller, but the females might suffer if the male is the amorous type. Here is a link to a site for converting inches into gallons: http://www.fishlore.com/ConversionCalculator.htm Hope all goes well! Cheers! P.S. I have...

    Incubating Brev Eggs

My two clutches of Brev eggs are incubating very nicely. These are my first clutches, and I have yet another question for the experienced among us... I have them in tupperware with vermiculite. When I put them in there, I basically soaked the vermiculite first, drained it without squeezing it...

My Brev is Digging to Lay

Brev eggs Here they are....The 4 on the right are the new ones. The 4 on the left are the bonus clutch that I found. I'm not sure how long have been incubating in the vivarium, but I think about a month. They seem firm and in good shape. I imagine some slight discoloration is normal.

My Brev is Digging to Lay

Update: She laid 4 perfect eggs yesterday. Also yesterday, my other female died, unfortunately. As I was digging up the clutch of eggs, I realized that she had laid them in the exact same spot where my female who died laid eggs! I knew the dead female had been gravid, but didn't realize she had...

My Brev is Digging to Lay

Hi all.... a few questions for the experienced out there..... My first gravid female brev, who is huge, is now digging a hole as I type. I live in Seattle, and keep my house around 68 degrees, although it can fall to lower 60's at night. Just wondering what the consensus is for Brev owners...

    Pygmy Brevs

Go figure....they were clearly mating this morning. I didn't see that coming! I was expecting some sort of heavy pursuit by the male, and being brushed off by the female until she was ready, but no. Wham Bam! LOL. I'm good with that. I guess I'll start counting down 30 days from now to watch for...

    Pygmy Brevs

Hi gang, My Brevs are almost a year old now, and not really showing interest in mating. The female doesn't seem gravid, and the male doesn't seem too interested in her. I've heard they start being sexually active as early as 4 months, yet mine are a year old. Have any of you with Brevs...

    Persistant Eye Problems

Wow, I didn't realize that. It seems strange that exo terra and zoo med would even make bulbs like that if they're bad for herps.

    Persistant Eye Problems

It's a 36" Exo Terra hood. There are 3 spiral lights. 2 of them are 2.0, and the other one, in the middle socket is 5.0. They're Reptisun. I have the terrarium well planted, so there's shade and darker areas for them to go hide in. I'l try that Tobramycin Opthalmic Solution. Do you think that's...

    Persistant Eye Problems

Hey gang....one of my 4 pygmy brevs has had his eyes stuck shut for about 3 weeks now. It seems that one eye may be able to get un-stuck, and open, but before long it's glued shut again. I've tried neosporin ointment on his eyes, and it seemed to help temporarily, only to close again. He's...

    Eyes Fogged Over

Perhaps I will change the bulbs....it's getting close to that time. I'll mist his eyes a little more than usual. I have a Mistking, and it goes off twice a day, with a third shorter mist mid day. The other 3 brevs are doing great. What is a CFL?

    Eyes Fogged Over

Both eyes on my male Brev seem to be kind of fogged over. It looks like a dry film. He recently shed his skin, so I'm thinking that his eyes may simply be the last part to shed? Has anyone else come across this? I just don't want to wait if I should act upon a remedy before it's too late. Not...

    Brev hatching

Nice, Brad! Question: One of my females is starting to walk on the ground floor of the terrarium. This isn't the norm for them. They're usually on vines, and up off the floor. She's about 5 months old now, and looking like she could be gravid. Did you actually see your female(s) laying eggs...

    Small Eye Wound

Now that I've removed the "sharp leafed" Broms, the pygs are all healed. I'm pretty sure they were the culprits.

    Small Eye Wound

Ok, I think I've found the culprit. I had 3 of the smallest species of Neoregelia Bromelaids growing in the terrarium. They have tiny serrated edges on their leaves that are quite sharp. today I woke up, and one of my females has the same type of wound on her eye, and a small scratch on her...

    Small Eye Wound

Is Polysporin available at a drug store, or do I get it at a herp supply? It sounds similar to Neosporin, and I have some of that. I don't want to do anything that would further complicate his little problem though. Thanks for your input :)
